Feb 26, 2001 - Today's rumble tourney had a little bit of a twist to it.  Doing the play-by-play honors for this one is none other than "The SuperStar":

The track was "Stacked 5"...rumblemania...3 on 3.  SLO1 (the only SLO team) was comprised of SLO_ObeOne, a good friend SLO_MO_JOE (CABOJOE), and myself, SLO_N8.  Yep, we borrowed JOE for this one, and it made for an unstoppable threesome.  First up I believe was team BOOF, who wound up getting BOOF'd by the SLOsters.  Next up was team DALE, which consisted of members from a couple different teams, but once again, SLO BOOF'd them, too! Hehe.  I could be mistaken, but I believe we went right into the finals after that ( 11 Teams, 33 Participants).  There were 3 teams left, and since 9 people won't fit in one game the final was a little odd.  Remaining was: XXX, VTR, & the SLOsters.  VTR got a break as we played XXX.  It was a heck of a match but SLO came out on top.  Only one team stood in our way from takin it all; VTR.  They had a hell of a plan in the game, but it was for naught, as we destroyed em, leaving us...SLO, as the victors of today's tournament!  For the record, XXX finished 2nd and VTR picked up 3rd.  Great job to all that made it to the finals!!  Results can be found here:  http://www.geocities.com/cyberbitz2001/

Nice pitch there, N8!  And I'm somewhat shocked you picked Obe as a running mate. All I thought he could do was make tracks and get on my nerves, but I guess the little upstart has an inkling of talent, huh. Hehehe.  Truthfully, I know you're a heck of a rumbler/racer, Obe...so BIG congrats to you and The SuperStar.  Finally, Team SLO tips its hat to CABOJOE  for helping out in a pinch.  Thanks a bunch, fella--your assistance proved invaluable (obvisously)!

Feb 21, 2001 - I've never been an advocate of arrogance for the sheer sake of arrogance, therefore, I certainly hope those of you who read this don't take these words as "Team SLO spouting off again".  We're not about that--never have been.  That quality by itself is one of the many that makes us who we are...and how we are.  With that said, my job here is simply to make room on our shelf for yet more trophies (it's a tough job, but hey--somebody's gotta do it!), and acknowledge the members who went out and got them!  Once again, +MDMII (I call him, "The Sheriff"--hehe) & +.ZO_TwoStroke laid another coat paint on the premise that racing has returned to MTM 2, and we're loving it!!. Before I turn it over to THE DESTROYER, who's going to give us the blow-by-blow rundown, I'd just like to say....

                   *********************************SLO***********************************

And now, here's THE DESTROYER:  Racing tourney at the "spur of the moment", and it was stock tracks & trucks, with the players calling out the track to run in the main.  The first track was Breakneck Ridge - 5 laps, the second was Crazy '98 - 5 laps, and the third was Sidewinder Canyon - 4 laps.  For the finals we ran ScrapYard Run for a whopping 10 laps!  All players ran all 4 rounds.  Here are the final postings:  http://roadrage.sports-gaming.com/slo/teamslo/spur.htm

NOTE:  Jumper & Weeedeee are father and son.  Jumper began the tourney, however he was unable to finish, thus Weeedeee finished up.  You da man,  Weeedeee...you da man!!

Feb 19, 2001 - The name is SLO_nOct3rn4l (why he just didn't spell out the dang word I'll never know--this one is tough to remember!!), and if I had to guess, by his own standards he would probably say he's been in somewhat of a slump.  Well, on this day he served notice to the likes of SYR, ZR1, VTR, and more that he's back!  It's called a "Spur Tourney", as in, "spur of the moment" I'm guessing, and it was of the 1-on-1 variety on The Cube, hosted by our good friends +MDMII & +.ZO_TwoStroke.  My man "nOc-nOc" (who's there? hehehe) went in swingin, and he didn't leave 'til that place was a mess--truck parts everywhere, as he took top honors as NUMERO UNO, baby!!  BIGGGGG congrats to you bud--way to go!!  Also, hats off to VTR_Thunder and SYR_Snake for their 2nd and 3rd place finishes...respectively speaking, of course.  : )

Feb 17, 2001 - "Lightning cracks across the sky, the tempest has begun. Raging forces take control, destruction soon will come!"  The quote is compliments of this team's newest powerhouse racer/rumbler supreme -  SLO_STORM!!  Lofty words, you say?  Not in the least, for this guy's talents are nothing short of incredible given the brief period of time he's been playing the game (since Aug 00).  He is without question a superb asset to what is arguably the best team in the Zone right now (hey, we know it is; I'm talking about everyone else!).  Ladies and gentlemen...do breakout your raincoats and umbrellas, but also, let's welcome our newest sensation....SLO_STORM!!!

Feb 17, 2001 - Hehe--ok, I have to say it; Winning Is Our Business...and Business Is Good!  Talk about a fun-filled day!  Allow me, if you will, to run down the official particulars.  Going to start with rumbling here, and it appears we have yet another emerging pair of "rumbleers", and they are Christy and Weeedeee!!  The event: "THE EAST COAST CONNECTION", and it was a 2 vs 2 format.  Cutting to the chase, the two names mentioned above took on XXX in the finals, and although they didn't win top honors, they certainly put on one heck of a show out there, and moreover, represented SLO with class and style.  Outstanding job, you two--way to go!!!  Congrats Team XXX - great job!

Feb 17, 2001 - Oh yeah, been a busy day for Team SLO - no doubt!  The saga continued in the rumbling tournament known as "JUST BRING IT", which finished up its third week...and who do you think is right in the thick of things?  Nope, it's not The Raiders or The New York Mets - it's Team SLO, baby!!  We have two teams, and the first one is comprised of that dynamo of a truck disassembler, SLO_Christy, who's partnered up with The SuperStar.  Our second team features none other than our master truck masher, SLO_nOct3rn4l and our newest addition, SLO_STORMY-weather!!   Check out the following link to see their current standings:  http://www.geocities.com/cyberbitz2001/results.html  As they head into the final round next weekend, let's see if we can get a small contingent of cheerleaders to give them a rousing boost as they go in to do battle!

Feb 17, 2001 - Whew - fourth entry for the day, and all before 8:00 a.m.!  This day marked the last round of "Mother Nature's Revenge" prior to heading into the finals.  The top 12 racers will take their place on a pre-selected track in a quest to become the overall winner of this year's Tournament of Champions.  Believe it or not, a whopping 50% of the list consist of racers off this team's roster, and they are as follows:

SLO_N8

SLO_Weeedeee - Bow in this guys presence when you see him--he was The SuperStar last night!  Exceptional job out there, bud!

SLO_COPE

SLO_SCAT

SLO_Destroyer

SLO_ObeOne

The names listed above by no means overshadow the fact that so many people from SLO participated in this event.  It was truly a team effort, as indicated by the incredible amount of points amassed during this series (584).  Special thanks go out to SLO_Christy, SLO_MANIAC, AND SLO_JDAK who's cheering and team spirit was appreciated more than they know! : )  Wow...all I can think of to say at this point is this is one heck of a team!!

  • Also, Team SLO would like to congratulate the remaining finalist:  OLD_AlG, DMS_Fila, SHO_Drag, OLD_Granny2, ROXro_SS, & OLD_Mouse.  And how bout a huge round of applause for TEAM OLD!!!!!!  Those guys are fantastic, and they did a great job in this tournament...and it ain't over!!  Best of luck to all the finalist!  Here are the results:  http://jstourney.homestead.com/Results.html

Feb 10, 2001 - To date, for this month...correction; since the formation of the team, this is maybe THE proudest moment I've had as a SLO member.  No, not because of who finished first, second, and third, but because we showed up in record breaking numbers, and the team spirit was at an all time high!.  The tournament was a continuation of "Mother Nature's Revenge", and the track was "Jumping Screwballs"...and we did it in the snow!  Thirteen SLOsters came out to support this installment of the series, and we not only dominated the field in sheer numbers, we also put on a racing clinic!  Without further ado or muttering on my part...

 Way To Go, TEAM SLO!!!

Here's the link listing the individual standings:  http://www.geocities.com/cyberbitz2001/results001.html

Feb 9, 2001 - Much to my surprise up popped a tourney on a very good add-on track...and a SX style even, which is a rarity.  "Y2K" was the selected track, and on very short notice, SLO marched into Tournament Room 1 ready to roll...and roll we did!  The Destroyer & The SuperStar led the charge, and found themselves in the finals with ROX_SS.  N8, as per usual, picked up 1st place, with The Destroyer capturing third!!!  The remaining 7 SLOsters put in very good showings, however, I would like to especially acknowledge SLO_Vyper, who entered this tourney coming off a break from the game to put in a extremely solid performance on a tough track!  Hats off to Team SLO, and congrats to ROX SS for his 2nd place finish!!!  Click on the link below to see individual point standings:  http://www.geocities.com/cyberbitz2001/reslts0000011.html

Feb 9, 2001 - For this to be the shortest month of the year, it's been darn busy!  Seems like every time you turn around this team  is making some sort of headlines...and I LOVE IT!!  Today's highlight featured the following SLOsters:  STORM, nOct3rn4l, N8, and Christy.  The event was a continuation of the four-week long, 2-on-2, rumble tourney, dubbed, "JUST BRING IT", and it took place on a rumble add-on entitled, "Season In Hell".  Unfortunately I don't have a link to show team point standings, however I can tell you that Christy and The SuperStar finished up in 2nd place!!  Storm and nOct3rn4l were 2 - 2 for the night; nothing to be ashamed of...at all!  Congrats to all of you guys and the The Lady...and let's keep racking up those team points!

Feb 7, 2001 - It gives me great pleasure to welcome SLO's newest hopeful, __Thunder__2001!!  According to The SuperStar, this youngster has what it takes to wear the best three letters in the Zone, hence he's vying for a spot on the team under our "exception" clause.  Yep, the criteria is a tad bit tougher, but so far this "bad weather" guy seems to have what it takes.  Best of luck to ya, partner, and look for a decision to be rendered on Feb 28, 2001 with regards to your membership!! : )

Feb 5, 2001 - It was called "Can You Take The Heat", and it was a one-on-one, double elimination, knuckle buster on the cube. In attendance was The Joker, Jumper, The SuperStar (N8, for those not in the know), and myself (COPE).  To make a long story short (believe me, this sucker took a while to complete!) N8 lost a heartbreaker in the finals to MGD_Ultimate (btw, congrats!) by 10 measly points!  According to N8, he "de-cubed" him at the very end, and needed only one more tick-tock to take the win. But uh...nope!  Still, congrats bud--2nd place is nothing to hang your head over, that's for sure!  I'll throw in that yours truly was 4-0 going into the latter stages of this tourney.  Of course, with two forfeits and a disqualification, it was darn easy to get to 4-0!  Hehehe

Feb 4, 2001 - Today's Tournament on "The Hole" was held to pay tribute to OLD_Wildman2 - an esteemed member of the OLD racing team, and personal friend of mine.  The turnout was fabulous, and the racing, although hard-fought, was clean and argument free...just as it should be at an event to honor a fallen comrade.  Lee, from all of Team SLO--rest in peace, my friend. You will be sorely missed.  Finally, thanks to all who attended to give your support and bid OLD_Wildman2 a final farewell.  It was indeed a memorable occasion.

  • Congrats to ZO_TwoStroke for his first place finish!  Also, how bout a standing-O for our very own, "JUMPER!" for finishing up in 2nd place, and earning his very first podium finish!!!  Here are the results of the tourney:

  • Christy/Maniac:  thanks for showing up to cheer us on! Noct/N8 - once again, thanks for keeping the team abreast on tourney happenings.  It's great to have both facets of this great game in full effect again.

Feb 3, 2001 - I'm sure most of you have heard the pseudo-macho battle-cry, "Just Bring It".  I know I have...a lot, but this time it happened to be the name of a rumble tourney.  Suiting up for this 2 on 2, four week long endeavor was SLO's all-time truck breaker-upper, nOct3rn4l and Stormlord_, who's pretty savvy around the cube, so I'm told!   Here's a round-by round run down by our Tourney Coordinator himself:

  • First round we played XXX and lost but this was  probably the best team there.

  • Second round we played ROX and also lost.  I played like crap for this game, but Storm dominated!

  • Third round we played team JB only 1 of them showed to play so i figure his partner got scared of us and ran off to hide  LOL, so we won round 3.

  • Fourth round we played team FAT.  We dominated them, tossed them  around like rag dolls.

  • Finally, round 5 we had to go up against SYR. You talk about nervous! Yes, I was cause they're tough! But low and behold we kicked their butt.  I could not believe it.  So in total we got 3 wins and 2 losses, which is really good for two people that have never played together at all!

Very well said, nOct!  I love that round-by-round style there!!  If you see these guys be sure and give them a hearty "congrats"!!!!  Also, if you can, next Sat, Feb 10, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific/1:00 p.m. Eastern...go out there and support our guys.  I'm sure they would welcome a little cheerleading (no pom-poms, please - too messy).  Very well done, you two!!!

Feb 1, 2001 - Enter Stormlord.  Then name itself prompts one to conjure up visions of some muscle-bound, staff wielding, mythological god standing tall on Mt Olympus, with lighting blazing all around him...or maybe that's just me and my warped imagination.  Hard to say.  At any rate, the fact is he doesn't come close to being anything of the sort; he's just "joe-blow" racer-rumbler who happens to be on his way to becoming member number 27 on TEAM SLO!  I've known Storm for a few months now, and let me tell you, this guy truly impresses me - period.  He's got a great attitude and his sense of "team spirit" is simply outstanding.  He's also the brother of that hot-shot racer, SLO_Renegade.  I'm not sure if it's the crumpets or what (they hail from the UK), but this brother-sister combo can flat out fly!  Stormy (hey, if I can be "Copey", he can be "Stormy"...and he'll like it!), on behalf of the entire team, welcome aboard, bud.  Your trial period ends February 17th, at which time we'll vote to determine your status with the team.  Best of luck to ya, fella!  : ) NOTE:  Storm began his trial period Jan 28, however, his status was not reflected during the page display period for that month.
