July 28, 2001 - I'm thinking it's going to be a shock to the system when school starts up for this guy.  I say that because he's cranking out tracks (and good ones!!) like weekly homework assignments!  His name is SLO_PreACheR, and he's quickly establishing a rep as one of the hottest track makers on the scene today.  His latest track is called "Midiland MX" and it's anything but a traditionally styled motor cross.  But hey, I'm not going to post a review here; I'll save that for when I head over to KC's!  Definitely check this one out!!  Way to go, Preach!!

July 25, 2001 - SLO has added yet another addition to its all-star lineup.  Her specialty is rumbling, but we'll definitely start forging her skills on the race tracks to round out her abilities.  What truly matters to us is what she brings to this team in terms of personality, sense of team spirit, and a host of other intangibles we look for when recruiting new members.  I'm not going to draw this out into an epic tale, so without further ado, it gives me great, great, great, great, great, great...really, really great, great, pleasure to introduce SLO's newest sensation...

SLO_D_Lady

Congrats Lady!!!!!  SLO gives each new member a complimentary gift package.  Your particular package includes 3 sets of used bed linen (for a twin bed...hope ya have one, if not tough), a bag of marbles, two pairs of socks (they probably even match!) and a $2.15 gift certificate good at any Burger King in The Sahara Desert (goodluck with that one).  Yep, you're speechless, I know.  It's a pretty extravagant package, but here on SLO we believe in going all out for our new members!  Welcome to the team, Lady--believe me when I say EVERYONE is very happy to have you aboard!!

July 22, 2001 - Whew!!  So many updates...so little time!!!  This team seems to be on the move lately, and as much as I love all the activity...boy is it tough keeping up with everything!!  Most of us have seen what it's like when things were anything but "lively"  (remember?), so I'm sure I echo the sentiments of everyone on this team when I use these three simple letters that pretty much say it all:

*********************************SLO*********************************

July 21, 2001 - Plenty to read here...been a smokin month for SLO, so I'll keep the tourney posts I'm about to make brief (no really, I will...honest.  Hehehe):

Fila captured 3rd place honors in a tourney held on  20 July 2001, which featured his new release, "SLO_Mountains".  Excellent showing, Fila!  Not going to let just anyone come in "your house" and kick your butt, eh?  Yeah...that's what I'm talkin' about!  Congrats to ONO and OLD_racenut on their 1st and 2nd place finishes respectively.

The "Dynamic Duo" were back in action in a ZTA endorsed tourney.  nOct3rn4l & N8 did it up once again, taking 1st place during this 2 vs 2 rumble on The Cube.  Way to go, you guys!!  Oh hey, I found a new place where you can get your capes and tights cleaned; it's where I get mine done, and they do great work!!  Hehe - notable mentions go to  EBK_DiGiTaL__sK & Ti_PARAMOUNT and ATW_DemolitionX & ATW_ellives for their 2nd and 3rd place finishes respectively.

July 21, 2001 - Our track makers have been busy little bees this month!  Hehe--makes them sound like they're 5-yrs old, huh?  Well hey, sometimes they...hahaha, ok, I'll steer clear of the abuse (this time) and stick to their accomplishments.

Fila has done it again, and this time he's pulled out all the stops.  If you're a racer, and you're partial to finesse tracks combined with a touch of speed, "SLO_Mountains" is the track for you!  This is without a doubt his best work to date, so DO check this baby out!!  Way to go, Fila!!!  Can't wait to see what your next project is going to look like!

Preach threw in a few more tracks to his collection as well:  "Paranoid" & "SLO Pace".  I know how much this is going to go to his head, but I'll say it anyway; I'm so impressed with this guy!!  His style, the way he makes tracks just...flow, and his dedication to this team (even though he's only been on SLO for a short while) amazes me.  Incidentally, SLO_Pace was made specifically for "Race/Rumbles" (RR) - a somewhat new format in this great game we play.  If you don't know what it is, ask!!  However, it's also a darn nice track for "straight up" racing!!  Great job, Preach!!  Keep 'em comin!!

ObeOne.  Ah yes, the old Jedi Master turned rumbler/racer/track maker.  Everyone knows Obe has quite an impressive repertoire of tracks...but believe it or not, he's just added three more:  Water Tower Rumble, Soda 4, & Soda 5.  If you're a racer, get a few friends and sample any of the "SODA series" tracks; you'll have and absolute blast!  I haven't checked out 4 & 5 yet (too busy doing these freakin updates!), but I'll get there, and soon!  For you rumblers - Water Tower is AWESOME, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say five or more players is ideal.  Obe, before it's all said and done, I'm going to set up a meeting with the President of the United States about erecting a statue in your honor!  Hehe--ok, maybe I'll just treat you to a Happy Meal at McDonalds; be a tad easier to do.  Once again, fantastic job, Obe!!

July 21, 2001 - Going to make it real simple here:  *+*SHIMMER'S*+* BACK!!!  Welcome back, Princess (hey, that's what I call her, so live with it!  hehehe) - very happy to see you "out and about", runnin with the team again!  When school starts up this fall...if you're a good little girl, I'll buy you some ice cream  & let you watch me kick N8's and nOct's butt on the cube!!  Sounds great, huh?  Hehe--glad you're back, *+*SHIMMER*+*!!!!

July 19, 2001 - He's proven his skills stretch beyond track making...and being a sarcastic little pain in the butt (he excels at that though)!  ObeOne is a highly skilled rumbler - period.  If you don't believe it, just ask - he'll tell ya.  He'll also tell you a bunch of other stuff you could care less about, but here on SLO we're used to his garbage spewi...I mean, his words of wisdom and philosophies about mankind and the world we live in (gag).  But hey, let me give you an example.  Here's his account of a recent rumble tourney he entered on 18 July, 2001:

Format:  4 rounds, top 3 go to finals - all on Hypercube.  Round 1 snow, round 2  clear, round 3 fog, round four rain.

ObeOne wins all four of the first rounds which puts him in first with 24pts.  Hitman didn't show, so that put ObeOne, HH, and SS in the finals, which is Hyper night.  ObeOne gets lagged into mountains several times, and puts him about 700 pts. behind the two leaders.  Throughout the rest of the rumble, Obe manages to close the gap to about 80 points, but is unable to gain any positions.  SS takes first, HH 2nd, and Obe 3rd.

Cope was not present at this tourney, but if he had been, he most likely would have ended up in dead last.

Quite the guy, huh?  Oh, and I just loooooove the cheap shot he took at the end.  Classic.  Hehe.  Congrats to you bud on your podium finish!  Great job, Obe...and let me know when you want your beating; I'll be more then happy to kick you around for a few!!

July 18, 2001 - Ok guess who this post is about?  Nope, it' ain't Kanobi!! (thank goodness)  There is a commonality, however, in that A.) the topic of discussion is about a SLOster, and B.) he too is a track maker (which basically means he's kinda weird).  The name of the rumble is "Paranoid", and it's author is none other than SLO's very own Preacher!!  We like to call him Preach for short.  Then again, "hey you" works pretty good, as well!  Regardless, he's been on fire too - cranking out tacks at a break-neck pace, and you better believe we're talkin' high quality stuff here.   This is certainly a nice piece of work, great for 4 - 6 rumblers, hence my guess is it'll be a popular pick amongst the Zoners out there.  Excellent work, Preach, and be sure no one occupies my parking spot on this one while I'm out of town, will ya?  Thanks Pal!

July 18, 2001 - I kinda like Obe.  I mean, he's ok to talk to when he's asleep...or when he's not around, ya know?  Hehe--well as much as I REALLY hate to do this, I have to say even MORE stuff about this guy.  He's put together yet another rumble, and this one is "loosely" fashioned after a little number he did for the team a while back called, "SLO Headquarters".  There's no doubt about it; the youngster is definitely on a role, so be sure to check out his latest hit, "Water Tower Rumble"!!  Oh hey, and don't forget to pack a swimsuit and a snorkel; you're going to need 'em!

July 18, 2001 - Gonna do a little back-tracking here...to the tune of four days ago.  SLO held it's first "Open Invitation Event" on 14 July, 2001, which featured racing, rumbling, and the new race-rumble format, which is rather unique in that it teams racers with rumblers,  side-by-side.  This one was of the late-night variety, and I think we drew 28 people in to participate.  It wasn't the overwhelming success we had hoped for, but it was a start.  Sometimes it takes a "few times around the track" or "a few tosses off the cube" before something catches fire.  We're hoping this event does just that.  The next event is tentatively scheduled for July 28/29.  We hope to see many of you out there with us - having a great time! Details will be posted in the main five days prior.

July 15, 2001 - Looks like wonder boy has done it again – ObeOne has authored yet another dynamite rumble, which incidentally totals track number 34!!  He saw fit to dub this one “Diamond Dam”; a sequel of sorts to a rumble of his from days gone by entitled, “River Dam”.  Admittedly, I haven’t had the pleasure of running River Dam, but I’ll definitely have to make time to check it out.  This one, however, is destined to be a hit, best suited for 5+ truck-bangers.

 • Curiously enough, he put my picture in it; an idea given to him by LS6c_Pooh (I don't trust her a lick!)  You know, maybe it’s just me, but I’m starting to get a little p.o.'d!!  When he placed a shot of me on the BoS Rumble, I was honored…flattered even.  On this one people are able to bash my pic around for a 10 full min (or more) if they want! What kind of crap is that?  Whatcha got to say for yourself, Kanobi...little twerp.  Hehe—regardless, this one is a winner for sure, so DO pick it up!  Great job, Obe!!

July 5, 2001 - I typically take every opportunity available to trash this guy...and he generally deserves it.  But I have to admit, when he hits a home run, much like he did with Castellar Mountain, I'm one of the first ones to stand up on SLO Mountain (hehe--little plug there for a "coming attraction") and cheer him on.  The name is ObeOne, and if there was such a thing as a "Track Maker's Hall of Fame", he would've been there long ago.  The youngster is truly ahead of his time with regard to what he's able to do inside and outside of this game.  With that said, it gives me great pleasure to present to you his newest sensation - "The Battle of the Sexes Rumble"!!!

This rumble was crafted with Team SLO's Battle of the Sexes function in mind, and let me tell ya, it's an absolute blast to play!  But hey, don't take my word for it (not many do); check it out for yourself!  Obe, great job man...and it's about freakin time you put my picture on one of your tracks!  I've surely given you enough money to have my picture on ALL of your two-bit tracks...chump!  Hehe--outstanding effort, bud!!

 •  Oh hey, forgot to add that SLO_Christy and LS6c_Pooh (she sure does hang around us a lot...moocher!  hehe) pitched in with some interior decorating help, so kudos to those two!!

July 4, 2001 - The following display is brought to you courtesy of our very own SLO_Maniac!  Thanks a heap, Maniac...and Team SLO wishes you all a very fun-filled, SAFE, holiday!!

HAPPY 4th of July

July 4, 2001 - Wow, this page is filling up fast, and I've only been back two days!!  This one will be quick and easy though.  Just wanted to announce to our fellow MTMers that SLO now has a track sort at KC's website!  So hey, if you're looking for some fun racing and rumbling, by all means, get our tracks here at our home, or at KC's.

Special thanks to THE MAN himself - KC, for allowing us the privilege of hoisting up our tracks on his site.  Also, thanks to my very good friend and teammate, SLO_Fila for all of his help in ensuring I didn't screw it up!  Thanks partner!!

July 4, 2001 - Yesterday I alluded to the possibility of SLO bringing in a new prospect, someone with "ATTITUDE" (the SLO kind, that is).  Well...allow me to formerly introduce the individual who could potentially become our 28th member!  Yeah, yeah, we're four over our max, but hey...that's what clauses are for!  Hehe, at any rate, without further ado, the name is D_Lady_, and from what three of our distinguished Board of Directors (The Destroyer, N8, and myself--COPE) could tell, girlfriend may just have the right stuff.  We were so enthused by her application we met up with her to discuss the contract, and the cushy $30,000 sign-up bonus.  After all was said and done, she agreed to our grueling 35-week trial.  Whoops--I mean, 3-week trial.  Whew--a 35-weeker would be a killer, huh?  At any rate, all of Team SLO wishes you the best of luck in your quest to become part of what we feel is THE best team in the Zone,  D_Lady_.  Your trial begins as of today and will end on July 25th, at which time the team will render a vote to decide on your eligibility to wear the name "SLO".

                         PRO_Demo, D_Lady_, COPE, N8, & The Destroyer

July 3, 2001 - This month promises to be full of fireworks (No pun intended.  Ok maybe just a little), and to start things off I'm going to do something that I rarely ever do; talk about ME (COPE)!  Hehehe.  I should do it more often though, you know.  Heck, I get tired of writing about SCAT, N8 (unfortunately I have to this time around though), PreACh, and the rest of those...SLO people.  Actually, this post isn't exclusively about me (the team's classiest guy), but rather it includes two additional veteran SLOstersN8 & The Destroyer!

I think it's safe to say this team personifies style & class, but we also share a friendship that's probably unmatched by any other organization out here.  It is THE number one reason for our success as a team.  No, I'm not talking about tourney wins necessarily, but rather the success that stems from our longevity and how we interact with one another.  The only thing that could possibly bring us closer together as a team is meeting each other face-to-face, and for myself, N8, and The Destroyer that became a reality on June 28, 2001, 11:28 a.m. Eastern time (hehe--details, details), in Baltimore, MD!

It was great fun meeting two of the guys I've run with for more than 1.5 years now.  Hehe--I joked about the fact that the three of us have butted heads more than any other members about various team issues, but that all goes with the "luxury" of being friends.  N8/PA (The Destroyer) - you guys are awesome, and I sincerely hope more members get to experience what we did, and next time we'll have to kick PA's butt at that off-road racing game (dang cheater)!!  I'll post a pic here in the next few days!!

July 3, 2001 - It shouldn't be news to anyone that it's extremely tough to get a seat on this team, and the way we see it, that's how it should be.  We only want the best...attitude, that is.  Finely honed skills as a racer or rumbler comes with time, but a positive attitude and the ability/willingness to function effectively in a team environment is...well, you either have what it takes or you don't.  In the days to come we'll announce the name of an individual who just may have that special quality that defines who we are.  Stay tuned!!
