Some time ago Jump
and I came up with the idea of using track lists to supplement
our APL.
The concept consisted of establishing 3 additional list of
tracks, making a pod.ini files for each, then using one of
several methods to rotate from list to list by swapping out said
file.
This is where __knarfke__
takes center stage. He's the younger brother of a racing
bud of mine (OLD_mumhra), and he designed a very
slick program called "The
MTM 2 Starter". Admittedly I had my
doubts, I did. The method I was using enabled me to swap .ini
files in about 6 seconds flat. This utility not only cuts
that time in half, but right after it swaps pod.ini files, it
gives you the option to start MTM 2 from a control panel in the
program!
Excellent job, __knarfke__!!
I'll tell you what, the only thing that could make me feel bad
about this program would be if mumhra informed me that
you're only 8 years old, because then I would feel stupid lol.
On the plus side, I'd have LOTS of company! Don't be
surprised if in the near future people are asking for your
autographs and talking about book/movie deals for "The MTM
2 Starter". I'm telling you, it could happen lol!
Great, great job, bud!
SLO's
Racing Hall of Fame posted
byCOPE@ March 28, 2003
SLO_Jumper is
the driving force behind our HoF,
and looking at it today it's hard to believe it started out with
only a handful of tracks. Amazingly enough, as of
yesterday, the number of tracks on our Hall of Fame reached 250!!!
If you're wondering what a decent lap time is on a given track,
dial up our HoF and compare notes. If what you see
leaves you dazed & confused, check our replay
page. You might find that the track in question has a
replay that shows just how those incredibly low times are
achieved. :)
If you're curious about lap
times (or garage settings) for a track you don't see on our
page, swing by Malibu350'sTrackShots.
If you still can't find it let me know & I'll see what I can
do for ya! My guess is you won't have a problem--he's
sporting well over 600 tracks there!
If the names "Winterkill
" & "Malibu350" are
foreign to you, then my guess is you're probably more of a checkers or scrabble
enthusiast as opposed to an MTM 2 racer lol. I don't mean to swell their heads too
much...at least not yet since I still have to write
reviews on each of their new tracks, but I gotta tell ya,
you WANT to download these tracks...trust me, you
do! No Jedi mind tricks here; it's just that these two
guy's personify the phrase "track making at its very
best" - period. Mal's new one is called "Quid
Pro Quo" (slick hehe) & Winterkill's track is
entitled "Wake Up!"
(definitely checkout the readme - excellent!).
Ok I'm done yackin' about these
tracks and will simply let them speak for themselves...and
believe me, they will. If you'd like to post comments
about your Winterkill/Malibu350 experience, here's the place to
do it: Track
Talk. Always nice to get feedback - positive or
negative. Donations are also good. Make checks
payable to Larry Copel...lmao.
It's been just about
a year since SLO brought in new members, and with the price of
entry fees at an all-time high, I for one am not
surprised. Is it worth it? You be the judge:
Application
fee - $800.00
Trial
Fee - $801.00
Locker
Fee - $5.00/month ($375.00 late fee)
Helmet
-$100.00 (for one without cracks/holes - $400.00)
Body
armor - $385.00
Rocket
Propelled Grenade Launcher - Free
(must
have parent's signature - authentic or forged)
Truck
rental fee - $1.00/day
Truck
keys - $790.00 (one-time charge)
I suppose one could argue that
our membership fees are a tad pricey, but hey, the current
members have house payments to...I mean, we have a pretty steep
overhead & our operating expenses are brutal!
Nevertheless, two MTMers realize price is not an object where it
concerns getting a shot at this team, and they are Demigod1
& PaPa1945!
They're trial begins today,
& ends April 1, 2003.
On behalf of the entire team (except nOct3rn4l, BRO_USA...and
about 17 other SLOs who are protesting this nomination) I wish
you both the very best of luck!!!
First and foremost,
I'd like to acknowledge SLOs JDAK, HotShoe, & Fila
who participated in this past weekend's ZO's
High Speed Race Tourney. GG's you guys!
Next up is an explanation mixed
in with a tourney result. As the story goes, "The
SuperStar" (N8) and I had what was thought to be
a harmless conversation
back in July of last year. Well, it fell into the wrong
hands; Ea's - N8's wife lol. As a result, she called my
wife, Julie (aka SLO_Vyper - aka The Warden), who in turn banned
me from participating in tourneys. Let's see, I believe
her words were, "Until hell freezes over" lol...so
yeah, I'll be out of action for a while. N8, got
off light; he was put on indefinite restriction, but I'm
guessing he maneuvered around his old crone of a wife to do this
one, and boy did he make it worth his while!
Teaming up with "_pete453_"
(nice disguise lol), they emerged as top dogs in a 2 vs 2 Hyper
Tourney!! Not sure when you'll be doing another one of
these, N8 (especially if Ea finds out lol), but man you
sure do know how to make the most of your opportunities.
Great stuff!! Thanks to ATW_Vipa
for hosting and +ATW_8828
for the watchful eye. :) Hats off to all the
participants, and especially, "_pete453_" for helping N8
deceive his wife lol. Here are the results:
1st - SLO_N8/_pete453_
2nd - ZLAc_NetForce/ZLA_bLiNd__
Tied for 3rd

Return
of "The Flash!!"posted
byCOPE@ March 1, 2003
Yep, it's true -
"The Flash" marked his return to the team a few
days ago after a rather extensive layoff. If I recall
correctly, his words just before he left were, "Hey, if you
think I suck now, just wait til I get back!!" lol.
Seriously, we're VERY glad to have our long-time friend
back on the tracks with us. He's a great guy, and a heck
of a lot of fun to be around. I'm sure there are those of
you who are saying to yourselves, "Who's this Flash
character?". Well, he looks like this,
but he moves like...this!
LOL it's going to be a while until he regains his form
(next year), so when you see him inching along on a track, try
not to stare; it's considered rude ya know lol.
