November 26, 2001 - It's getting to the point where it seems that everyday somebody's winning something or placing in a tourney.  I'm almost inclined to send out a notice to the team that says, "If you didn't throw yourself on a land mine, ultimately saving The President of the United States (or whoever the equivalent is for your country) from certain death, I don't want to hear about it!!"  Hehe--it hasn't quite gotten to that point yet, but it's getting close!

Suffice to say I'm not here to talk about that stuff; Broski is the main topic in this post, so I'll proceed with familiarizing the general public with a brief account of this guy's history.  I found him several months ago sleeping in some Zone alleyway...clutching a steering wheel and a bag of chips.  I kneeled down beside him, shook him a bit to rouse the guy from his slumber, and asked if he raced.  He nodded that he did, and three weeks later, after completing his trial, which included washing all the current member's trucks, doing our laundry, cooking, dusting, mowing & edging the lawn at SLO HQ...he was on the team!!.  In retrospect he was one heck of a pickup.  I love his zest for the game, his team spirit, and he comes up with some pretty nifty slogans when advertising for our SLO Events.  Check this one out:

Any other firm would have to pay top dollar for that kind of quality advertising, but we get it absolutely free, thanks to Bro.  Well, he's much more than a pretty face that spits out slogans and deletes tons of necessary files relative to MTM 2 (Hehe--gotcha!).  Bro has...well, he's "arrived".   He garnered his first podium finish in +_RunoverU's 2 vs 2 Spur Tourney on the cube, and if that's not worth a SLO Standing-O, I don't know what is!!  Much thanks to +_RunoverU for hosting, and "gg" to the other combatants, to include our SuperStar!.  Here are the final results:

                       1st place - SGL_UNTOUCHABLE & ROX_OPTIMUS

                       2nd place - SLO_BRO & Z71_PreDaToR_

                       3rd place - SLO_N8 & Big_Stomper

November 26, 2001 - Let's see, 2 sets of Batman pajamas, the new custom Lego building blocks with authentic, fake blueprints,  4 boxes of Huggies diapers, a new set of Pearl Marbles (with a steelie), one Mr. Sluggo punching bag...oh, sorry - was drafting up my gift list for Jr.  Christmas is just around the corner, don'tcha know, and I want to make sure that dirty little...I mean, this deserving young man gets everything that's coming to him.  Everything!

Since I'm woefully behind in my posts (again) I'm going to give Jr. some company.  Al, SCAT, and The SuperStar also made headlines recently (who hasn't), so I'm going to throw them all in the same pan and fry em up (in a manner of speaking, that is)!!

»  Big Al and SCAT-ATTACK paired up for a race-rumble tourney hosted by ZR1cc_Chaos, with +No_Valve on the assist.  Word has it there was cursing ( and smoking), name calling, rock throwing, kicking, scratching, biting...and these two started it!!!  That blows me away because they're like the poster kids for niceness and good manners...or at least they used to be.  Needless to say, until our Board of Directors can investigate this matter thoroughly, SCAT & Al are not allowed to play this game (to include tourneys, special events) unsupervised, and they each must write 100 times, "I promise never to start fights at tourneys again...unless I'm absolutely sure I can get away with it before anyone finds out!"  Still, congrats anyway (you two barbarians) and hats off to the other  podium finishers!!

                                   1st place - Team RIP

                                   2nd place - Team ZR1

                                   3rd place - Team SLO

»  Jr. and The SuperStar - despite my personal dislike for both of these characters I'm obligated to report on their accomplishments.  First of all, this was a spur race tourney on "OLD_Rockpit", by OLD_NICK@NITE.  From what I'm told the competition was heavy, but low and behold, who do you think pulled out the top two spots?  You got it - SLO baby!!!  According to N8, during the final race, he and Jr. were trading places for the lead, but then he noticed that Jr. went into a coughing fit, and out pops his pacifier.   Being the stand-up team player he is, The SuperStar sacrificed his opportunity for a first place finish in order to retrieve the brat's pacifier.  If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times:   "Jr., DO NOT race with that thing stuck in your mouth; you could fall and jam that sucker down your miserable throat!"   Hehe--kids.  At any rate, N8 - thanks for the heads-up thinking by going after that pacifier; I would've had a heck of a time getting him to sleep that night without it.  HUGE congrats to you, Jr. as you've carved out a nice little chunk of history by capturing an unprecedented THREE CONSECUTIVE RACE TOURNAMENT VICTORIES!!!!!!!!  You've been putting on quite the racing clinic of late, guy; too bad you won't be able to celebrate it with the rest of team.  Having said that, go to your room - you're grounded! J

»  Special thanks to +MDM98II for hosting this one.  Nice to see you didn't call it quits on us, Sherrif.  Hehe--inside joke there...with the name. J  Here are the official results:

                                  1st place - SLO_PreACheR_MG

                                  2nd place - SLO_N8

                                         3rd place - RIP_20

November 25, 2001 - I contemplated grouping this post with some others I have to make, but then I thought no - this guy deserves a solo shot, his moment in the sun.  JDAK - when we met a few years ago, I thought his name was pretty slick - sounded like some T.V. superhero or something (without the cape).  Almost a year later, during his short tour in Bosnia (he's an employee of the Department of Defense), I learned the name represented the first initial in his, his wife's, son's and daughter's names.  Now that's really cool!

Hehe--it's no secret I "occasionally" use this portion of our page to poke fun at all my SLO teammates.  But after 30 or 40 insults my conscious starts to get to me, you know?  So I figured for just this once I'd try to play it straight-up, not slip into my norm of slashing people's character, bringing up "dirty laundry" about their friends and family members, etc.  Fact is, JDAK represented THE standard of racing skill & technique we all strived to achieve when we started  out a little over 2 years ago.  He was the one we measured ourselves by...and the one we loved to get a win against because that meant we were getting closer to being on his level.  Well, sometimes he'd crash and give it away, but hey, we took a win anyway we could get it!

What makes this post pretty special in my mind is how this guy fought back from an extensive layoff due to military obligations to recouping  what I would say is pretty darn close to his old form.  Yesterday he made a statement about his racing ability on Zoon's "Z-M-X", and although I can't speak for anyone else, personally this guy impressed the hell out of me!  There's this surge of confidence you get by stepping up on that podium, and now that he has that, his very first...well, look for the The Mauler (as he's affectionately known) to be "right there" from here on in.  JDAK, much, much congrats to you, my friend!  I'm 0-3 against you in tourneys...and I'm kinda pissed about that, but I'll get over it in a few weeks.  I'll also consider taking down the "JDAK sucks!" signs I have posted on my locker.

Last, but certainly not least...Bro picked up his very first win in a round during this tourney!!!  Oh and wait, there's more; he also finished in 5th place overall!!!  Bro, I knew this day would come for ya, guy.  Hey, did I or did I not know what I was talking about when you came to me asking how to best approach this tourney from a tactical standpoint, and I said to you, "Well...try to go very, very fast!"  Hey, that's what I'm here for man...that's what I'm here for.  Congrats to you, Bro!!!!!!!  Special thanks to hosts ROX_GT3K & ROX_Mikester!  Here are the final results:

                                 1st place - RIP_Buzzz

                                 2nd place - SLO_JDAK

                                 3rd place - OLD_NICKatNITE

November 23, 2001 - There's this...phenomenon (for lack of a better word) that people who live together for years and years start to take on physical similarities.  It's also true that with such lengthy exposure to one another you start to sound alike.  That is, the manner in which one expresses himself/herself start to parallel.  Well, N8 and ****SS**** (he likes stars around his name) have known each other for two years now, and since we hangout online together and sometimes chat for hours on end over the internet, as well as over the phone, in a way the following should come as no surprise.  Hehe--but I gotta tell ya, this is kinda freaky.  Anyway, maybe I'm losing it, but you tell me if the following lines don't sound amazingly alike (similarly wacko, that is).  Here's ****SS**** when he was having...some kind of seizure, maybe:

» "Why dont i just make a Cope3, with Cope2, remove the ladies, and add the goodies Cope1 had, with the new goody u wanted and wala! yes, no maybe?"

And now here's N8:

» "lol...I got Cope's reply to Al's reply before I even got Al's reply.  That make any sense?? (none whatsoever) lol...luckily Cope's reply had Al's reply at the bottom or I'd have been hella-lost! (u mean, like we are, SuperStar?)"

Striking similarities, wouldn't you say?  Scary, scary stuff.  I won't race with them unless there's someone else in the room - no way!  I'm not sure what that affliction is called, but he's being "evaluated" at a little institution called Happy Acres.  Nice facility - soft, cushy walls, everybody wears white...****SS**** can tell you about it.  At any rate, despite his questionable mental capacity, ole N8 gave out a few rumbling lessons the other night.  The function was hosted by ZAP_MysticalMG and assisted by +ROX_Mikester, and it was of the one-on-one variety on the cube (no less).  It's amazing he can even rumble with that sleeveless jacket on, but hey - no one ever said this guy was "ordinary".

N8 - congrats to you bud, as he brings in SLO's tourney win number "53"!!!  Also, "gg" to the podium finishers; excellent showing, fellas!  Here are the final results:

                                  1st place - SLO_N8

                                  2nd place - XXX_Gohan

                                  3rd place - ZX_Rad

November 22, 2001 - Hmmm...seems as though I've been remiss in my duties with respect to updating this page.  Well, since it's Thanksgiving Day (and a happy one to you and yours), I'm going to knock this one out fairly quick.

GB has put together a rather nice follow-up to his "Limitations" rumble.  The name of his latest release is, would you believe, "Limitations 2".  Yeah, he burned up about 90 million brains cells coming up with that one, believe me.  Admittedly, we had a few discussions about this rumble - primarily because I didn't like it at first.  Oh and let me tell ya, if you ever work with GB on a track, take about 12 tablets of aspirin and wash it down with a bottle (not a shot, or glass...a bottle) of the hard stuff before you begin; this guy is the king of stubbornness!  He always asks me to look at his stuff, but then I have to club him over the head to get him to take a freakin suggestion.  Well, he finally yielded and made a few changes for the better, and I must say, I no longer have the urge to do away with his creation by way of several strategically placed sticks of dynamite!!  I

Hehe--very well done, GB!!  His rumble will be featured at the SLO Event this weekend, so get it while it's hot!!  Oh and GB...I'm gonna tell ya now, if you're entertaining ideas about naming your next rumble "Limitations 3" - it ain't happenin'.  Hehe--once again, nicely done, bud!!

November 21, 2001 - Seems as though racing tournaments are the thing to do nowadays, and who do you suppose is ALWAYS there, ALWAYS out in force, and of late, ALWAYS in the final rounds?  No, not MGD or XXX, which are both superb teams mind you, but racing isn't really their bag.  Thus, in the words of The nOct3rn4l One, the answer is, "SLO Baby!!!"

+ROX_Mikester was in the house last night, & low and behold, up popped a spur race tourney on "Fall in Vermont 1.2".  Amazingly enough, eight SLOsters turned out for this one, to include nOct and NoX, the bam-bam twins.  Oh hey, my man NoX made it all the way to the 3rd round before he was ousted!  Excellent showing on what I believe is your racing debut, partner!  Yeah, it's great to see two of our master truck bashers out there partaking in what's traditionally a kinder, gentler sport.  Unlike rumble tourneys (which are oh so...violent!), when it's all said and done, there are no unidentifiable body parts to be gathered up, miscellaneous truck pieces laying about or blood splattered all over the track.  At any rate, hats of to you two guys for stepping outside your comfort zone to take part in this tourney!  Hey, it's yet one more characteristic that makes us so dog-gone special. J   Hehe--sometimes I like digging up old expressions like "dog-gone" and "their bag" just to remind our much younger generation there's more to the English language besides, "Yo!"

Getting back to business here, what is of no surprise is the fact that this was very nearly an all SLO semi-final.  Some guy with a very hi-pitched voice edged me out in the 3rd round to ruin that, but still, Jr, Jump, and The SuperStar were there, and here's how it panned out in the end:

                                     1st place - SLO_PreACheR_MG

                                     2nd place - SLO_Jumper

                                     3rd place - Soprano_06

                                      4th place - SLO_N8

Yeah, our loud mouth little delinquent is definitely becoming a household name to those who frequent the Zone.  SuperStar-2, you might ask?  Don't think so; the minimum age requirement is 21, and you must be able to count to 20 without the aid of your fingers and toes.  But the kid has potential, that's for sure!  Preach, a few days ago I told Jump "It's your house - the rest of us just live here"  Well, he's been kicked out, and the house has been repossessed; it's yours now.  Congrats to you bud!!!  You've come a long way in a very short period of time, and I for one am very much impressed (I knew ya when you sucked).  Hehe--finally, how 'bout a hefty round of applause for Jump, N8, and the opera star for their excellent showing!!  Until next time...

November 19, 2001 - On behalf of the entire team I'd like to recognize those responsible for the return of racing to MTM 2.  I don't want to run this thing into the ground, but at the same time, I want to ensure such an achievement (and those responsible for it) is given its proper due and consideration.  So, without further ado...+_CornHusker, +MDMII98, +Madjack_359, & last, but certainly not least, +ROX_Mikester - without you guys the racers who play this game would be in the same shape they were prior to you four stepping up like you have, which is "hurt status".  The reinsertion of racing tourneys as part of the MTM community has been a major emotional boost to those who enjoy that side of this great game. To give you an example, PA & JDAK cry before every race during a tourney.  Touching, isn't it?  Hehe--saps.  What was great to see was this tourney brought out a few strict practitioners of rumble-optomies to have a look-see at this "racin' stuff".J  We happen to think that's great, and hopefully the pattern will continue to grow and spread.

On a less inspirational note, we had four members of this team recently make several derogatory remarks about the Member Plus organization.  Let's see if I can get this quote down; "They're nothing but a bunch of scum-sucking, 7-eyed,  2-toed, humped back, maggot-like cretins who should be eradicated from the civilized world."  Sure, they sugar-coated it a bit, but the public expression of their thoughts/opinions was a tad over the top in my humble opinion.  No need to list names (Smiley, Christy, nLuVnIt, *+*+*SHIMMER*+*), but rest assured fellas, the offenders will be dealt with - swiftly and harshly.  They will know pain, anguish, and humiliation beyond the endurance of man or woman (SCAT, tell the girls their limo is ready.  Also, have GB call ahead to check on the accommodations in their hotel suites, will ya - thanks!)!  Yes sir, here on SLO we don't put up with that kind of crap; our policy is zero tolerance for bad-mouthing a Member Plus!!

Hehehe--thank you all once again for your efforts to revitalize racing.  You've VASTLY improved what we do here in the Zone, and dare I say it means more than you may possibly ever know!

November 19, 2001 - Got three (count em, three!!) big updates here, and as usual I'm behind, so I'll kinda group em together.  Before I begin, allow me to recap a little number written by one of this team's most electrifying racers - SLO_Weeedeee:

«Da last one is not always da SLOer, but da winner is always a SLOster!!!»

Well hey, with that said, let's kick this baby off!!  Four SLOsters made headlines recently, and I intend to do them justice (or injustice...depending on your perspective) by highlighting them here on this page.  Here we go...

SLO_Jumper - "Normal" people board airplanes with every intention to remain on that plane until it arrives at it's appointed destination.  This guy here gets on planes for the sole purpose of jumping "out".  Now, somebody please tell me what kind of world we live in whereby some wacko gets his jollies by jumping out of perfectly serviceable airplanes?  Still...regardless of his abnormal definition of "fun", The SuperStar saw fit to bring this guy into the team way back when...and we've regretted it ever since!  Hehe--ok, ok...truth be told, Jump has pulled off what few manage to do in any form of competition, and that is win back-to-back tourneys!!!  It was 8 grueling laps on Alpine's "Cross Traphix" and he came with his game face on!  When you have guys like _TheBoom, ZOcc_BulletBert, OGL_TwoStroke, OLD_racnut, and of course, our highly skilled, precision-like squad of SLO RIDERS, you won't be handed a tourney win on a silver platter with a side of green beans, mashed potatoes/gravy and a parsley garnish - it ain't happenin'.

Jump, little do you know, but when I was desperately trying to catch you as we were flying around the track, I secretly rooted for ya, guy.  I had already envisioned the possibility of back-to-back victories, and enjoying the idea of sitting down to write about it on our page.  Course, I think I woulda enjoyed it more if I had won...but I guess I'll have to wait til next time, huh?  Much, much congrats to you, my friend - you definitely earned it, and you most assuredly deserve it!!

Your's truly finished up in 2nd place.  Al made me put this in here.  He's kinda pushy.  Hehehe

This next guy has been busy lately, so he doesn't race as much, but mark my word, he could've easily taken the number one position.  For this tourney in particular, if there were 3 professional racers on the track, it came down to who got out in front first and went the entire 8 laps mistake free. NANOO, Al, myself were pitted against each other in a 2nd round match-up.  I was fortunate enough to start off in a position to get out in front first, and I simply held on, with Al taking second and NANOO third at the end of the race.  It was a heck of a run though, with NANOO besting mine and Al's lap times with 1:02s!!!  NANOO, you had a great run finishing up with an overall 3rd place at the end of the show, bud.  Your tourney wins are coming; it's simply a matter of time.

Check out the final results here, and hats off to Team SLO for once again proving beyond a shadow of doubt why we're undeniably the best team in the entire Gaming Zone!!!  FINAL RESULTS

The SuperStar was back in action on the cube!   It was a one-on-one Spur Tourney hosted by o0_ExTerNul_0o (why can't these guys choose ordinary names) with +ROX_Mikester on the assist.  I'm inclined to believe that since our star-studded teamie here got turned every way but loose at that race tourney, he kinda took out his frustrations on the cube!  And hey, what better way to do that then pulling the fender off some guy's truck, then ramming it up his...well let's just say he did ok out there; how's that?  But N8, do see someone about your anger and a have him/her suggest a viable means of controlling it.  I called Ea the other day, and she's agreed to let you pick out your own clothes and answer the phone for two whole weeks as kind of a psychological "pick-me-up" for ya!  Hey now, that should make you feel better, huh?  No need to thank me; we've known each other too long, and you're my bud.  If there's anything else I can do, well...I'd have to ask Ea first, but you know what I mean.  Call anytime, man...just make sure she knows you're using the phone.

Ding, Ding, Ding!!

Incidentally, N8's victory put us at 50 tourney wins on the year - arguably the first MTM team to EVER accomplish such a feat!!!  How bout a BIG, BIG SLO Standing-O for ourselves, and let's definitely give a special "nod" to The SuperStar for the major role he played in our team reaching such a prestigious goal!!!

Here's a run down of the official particulars, and "gg" to the second and third place finishers!

                                      1st place - SLO_N8

                                      2nd place - V10_FordBoy

                                      3rd place - ROXc_SS_

Jr. (SLO_PreACheR_MG) - I've come to the conclusion that I liked him better when I didn't know him as well.  For four days after he joined the team I thought he was awesome!  Then he started talking...and talking...and before we knew it, he wanted to play with us, and he talked some more.  Now he's saying stuff like this:

A real charmer, huh?  All I know is it's a good thing he lives in Australia.  I'd say more, but I don't want to get arrested for making statements about maiming and disfiguring juvenile delinquents on the internet.  Nevertheless, the little punk can race, and he's reeled in his second tourney victory!

November 18, 2001 - it was a Spur Race Tourney on "The Heights" for 3 laps, hosted by ROX_Mikester!!!  (Thanks a heap, Mike!)  Getting back to the subject at hand, Jr. took it all by slicing and dicing his way through the woods, earning the victory.  My guess is he did a little landscaping with his truck, though.  By his own admission he's not the best at stock tracks...but he was indeed the best that day! Way to go you sawed-off, litt...oops, I mean, let's give this guy a HUGE round of applause for not only being able to shoot off that big mouth of his, but also for being "fleet of foot" after he's ticked someone off and they've come after him!  Excellent, excellent results, Preach!!!!

No less deserving of recognition is The nOct3rn4l one, who snatched up 3rd place in this tourney.  He's making his return to the racing scene, and I for one couldn't be more thrilled about that! nOct - way to go, my man!!  Here are the official results:

                                1st place - SLO_PreACheR_MG

                                2nd place - LiquidPollution

                                       3rd place - SLO_nOct3rn4l

SPECIAL BULLETIN

November 12, 2001 - I typically pad these posts with lots of stuff; partly for entertainment, partly to see what wild, off-the-wall story I can come up with, and partly because I don't have anyone else to talk to at 3:10 a.m., which is when I usually do these things.  However, the fact is the results that go on this page speak for themselves, as does the kind of team we are.  So, sit back and relax a few while COPEY runs down a little SLO history to ya!  GB, get Jr. (Preach) some marbles, a coloring book, and a glass (paper cup) of Hi-C.  Matter of fact, double that order since *+*SHIMMER*+*  is here.   Everyone else - partake of the beverage of your choice!  Here we go...

Probably the most notable thing about SLO is we're "home grown".  By that I mean we didn't go out and recruit a bunch of veteran, hot-shot racers/rumblers; we became proficient at this game over a period of time as a "team".  We now have our long-time friend, AlG riding with us, who as you know, can definitely burn up the tracks!  The SuperStar brought in nOct3rn4L, who in turn recently brought in NoX.  But the fact is before all of them (NoX, AlG, nOct) we were a darn good team, and I don't mean that strictly in terms of tourney wins or showings.  I'm talking about the way we were...and how we are now.  Nothing has changed except that now we're better friends, more organized...hehe, maybe a little faster, a little tougher, but those things will always come in 2nd place with respect to what this team is truly all about.

Interestingly enough, between December of 99 and January of 2000, PA (The Destroyer), SCAT, SS, GIN, Rebel, Fila, 3B, Syn, and The Flash were brought in to join JDAK, TurboTA, N8, and myself in our little "racing group"...and we hated teams!!  Hehehe--funny to think about, but it's true.  We thought guys/girls on teams were big-headed, cocky, so & so's, and we loved beating them every chance we got, which in an ironic sense served as the focus of what was to become The Sore Losers Organization on March 11, 2001.  We didn't want to be like some of the other teams we had come across; we wanted to be unique, different, but fair with an emphasis on good sportsmanship.  When we entered the Zone sporting our team name, we were laughed at, made fun of, but here we stand today, one of the most respected, highly sought after teams out here - and by no means has it been by chance.  I've recounted this brief history to basically say, "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY" to TEAM SLO, for it was truly around this time that our team was formed; we simply didn't realize it then.  But make no mistake, we were definitely a team in every sense of the word.

We now have a host of others who've joined our ranks, and as always, their acceptance was predicated purely on attitude alone - nothing else.  Those players include Gutterboy, Christy, Preach, SHIMMER, STOMPER, Jumper, NANOO, CLV, Bro, Vyper, The Duck (quaaaaack), nLuVnIt, RAZ, and Smiley.  You all are included in this celebration as members of SLO.  It has nothing to do with "being there when we started" and everything to do with your commitment to who we are.  You girls & guys represent SLO's present and future.

With all of that said...I've got some tourney results to post; three to be exact!!!  I've said it so much, in so many ways...this time I'm just going to post the results.  I will comment on one tourney in particular, however.  Ok, maybe two!!  Let's do this thing, shall we?

            Nov 8 - 2 on 2 Hyper Spur hosted by +disturbed_smurf

                           1st place - SLO_Christy & SLO_N8

                           2nd place - SLO_NoXcape & SLO_nOct3rn4l

                           3rd place - FIRE_RunoverU & FIRE_Rhino

Looked very much like a SLO party for this one.  Hats off to +disturbed_smurf for hosting, and "gg" to Team FIRE!  As for the Four SLOster-teers...what can you say, huh?  I know both nOct and NoX wanted to borrow my cape, but it was in the cleaners.  Best I could do for them was a pair of used nylons I dug out of the trash and my son's old Scooby-Doo house slippers.  Obviously it didn't help them, but still...what better way to come in 2nd place, huh?  Hehehehe - way to go to all four of our truck disassemblers!!!!

            Nov 11 - Racing tourney hosted by +CornHusker - 4 laps/3 rounds on Halloween 2001, created by SLO_Preacher!

                                1st place - SLO_N8

                                2nd place - SLO_PreACheR_MG

                                3rd place - OLD_racnut

                                       4th place - SLO_Jumper

»  I want to steer clear of the obvious for a sec, so N8/Jump...heck of a tourney for you guys--superb effort, no doubt!!  Now...what made this tourney special was the number of SLO's who came out to support it.  We had 12 SLOsters there, and I can't put into words the feeling I had when I looked to the right side of my monitor and saw my friends/teammates out in force, ready to race!!!  With that said, let's give ourselves a round of applause for unprecedented team spirit and support!  And special thanks to Christy who worked the pom-poms, cheering us on like there was no tomorrow.  Thanks for the support, Girlfriend!!! J

»  Jr. definitely confirmed the fact that he's dangerous...very dangerous, but in a good way!  Hehehe--heaven knows I love harassing the youngster here, but I also call it like I see it, and this guy's racing has  truly impressed me.  When I met him some time ago, he declared that he was a rumbler...and he wasn't all that hot at that!  Hehehe--now the little punk can flat out fly!!!  Preach, not only are your tracks exceptional, but your racing has certainly placed you in the ranks of the elite.  Outstanding effort, partner!!  Now go brush your teeth, put your marbles/coloring book away and get your pajamas on; it's 8:30. p.m. - bedtime...and no I'm not reading you a story tonight!  Hehehe

»  Last, but certainly not least, the guys mentioned up top did quite well, but they also had a very strong supporting cast who turned in some gritty performances.  They are as follows:

JDAK - The Mauler, who never races angry...but you wouldn't know it!

Al -  who's passes are so smooth and "squeaky clean", you get a wax job on your truck as he zips by you!!

PA - he's ALWAYS right there in ur face...or on ur back...or coming around on the side...somewhere!

Bro - made his tourney debut & locked down  a few 2nd place finishes!!  Way to go, Bro!!!

*+*SHIMMER*+* - chocked up her first win in a heat!  Yeah, yeah - you go, Princess!!!

Trible B - Watch out for 3B - his racing prowess is quickly returning to form!  Now if we can only shut him up!

SCAT-ATTACK!! - A threat at any tourney--turns in a 200% effort every time out!!

Great, great effort by all of SLO on this one, and a VERY special thanks to +CornHusker for agreeing to do the hosting honors.  It was one of the best run tourneys I've witnessed to date.  Excellent job, bud - keep up the good work!!!

Ding, Ding, Ding!!

Nov 11 - Racing tourney hosted by +MDMII - 4 laps/3 rounds on Jumpin_John's MX, created by ONaN!

This one here is kind of special...well, it's very special, for another SLO has reached a milestone in his career (can I call what we do "careers?"   Legally, I mean.  Check on that, Al)  In my eyes, and in the eyes of the rest of us who watch him as he blows buy during a race, he is track for track THE fastest guy on the team.  I don't care what kind of track it is, odds are he knows every nuance of it and runs it like he's being paid to do it.  I realize that's quite a lofty statement when you consider we have guys like Gutterboy, SCAT, JDAK, Big Al, N8, Preach, PA, etc., but I'm telling you from first hand experience, he is one of the most phenomenal racers I've ever had the pleasure (and frustration) of racing with and against.  Team SLO, please rise as I present his first tourney win, and from what I'm told, it was an all out, 4-lap, WAR!!! It gives me great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, truly great, great, great (sips a drink of water) great, great, great, pleasure to present this tourney victory to...

   SLO_JUMPER

A very much deserved victory by one of this team's classiest guys.  Jump, on behalf of the entire team it is a sincere pleasure to honor you in this way, bud.  You are held in very high regard by not only your teammates, but also by everyone in the Zone, and not many people can lay claim to such an ideal, so hats off to you, my friend.

I would like to extend a VERY SPECIAL nod to +MDMII (The Sherrif) for hooking this one up.  Word has it the turnout was huge, as it was for a special occasion, which was to wish a speedy recovery to a comrade, OLD_JumpinJohn.  I would also like to highlight our SuperStar for once again showing why he is probably the best all-around player this game has ever seen (one man's opinion...and I base that on stats, folks!).  I would also like to recognize _TheBoom for his gutsy performance and outstanding finish - a truly great showing, bud!!!  Here are the official results:

                                     1st place - SLO_Jumper

                                     2nd place - _TheBoom

                                     3rd place - SLO_N8

Since we're on the subject or racing, I'm going to treat you to a little conversation Jump and I had about The SuperStar, and it was in direct reference to the post just below this one.  Specifically, the topic at hand was spouses in general and their impact on racing frequency and performance.  Here's an excerpt from that discussion:

SLO_Jumper> hahahah I need to help him teach her.
SLO_COPE> hahaha
SLO_COPE>teach him how to deal with Ea?
SLO_Jumper> Yep, I think I could, would be easy as pie
SLO_Jumper> women's movement may not like it tho
SLO_Jumper> but who cares
SLO_COPE> hahahaha
SLO_COPE> they'll get over it, right?
SLO_COPE> or not

SLO_Jumper> they better, we wont
SLO_Jumper> she gotta learn to organize her time, that way she wont organize him
SLO_Jumper> like 6:00 p.m. you do laundry
SLO_Jumper> 6:30 p.m. wash dishes
SLO_Jumper> lol stuff like that
SLO_Jumper> then you post your calendar
SLO_Jumper> week days 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. - racing

SLO_Jumper> weekends 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. - more racing lol
SLO_COPE> Hahahahaha

Hehe - all I have to say is it's a good thing he won this tourney cause he's probably not going to live much longer.  Congrats again, Jump!!!!

November 8, 2001 - Before sitting down to compose this particular entry to our NOTES & NEWS page, I took a quick trip through our archives of the past few months looking at The SuperStar’s activity.  Fact is, he hasn’t done all that much on his own.  He’s hooked up with the likes of Christy, SYR_FOO, The nOct3rn4l One, Radeon_, SCAT, NoX….all of whom carried his sorry butt to victory.  Oh he’s lucked up and had a few individual wins…but sparingly.  Well, I’m here to set the record straight - especially since I’m the one responsible for misleading the Zone community.  Truth is N8 isn’t really all that good.  I know, I know…you’re saying, “but COPE – you’re the one who started calling him, “SuperStar”.  Well…I was wrong.  The reality of it is he’s only an “AverageStar”…and sometimes he’s not real bright, and kinda spineless.  For instance, check out the pic below:

Disgusting.  What’s all that crap about “I have to wait to see what Ea (ball 'n chain) has planned for me”  Foowie!!!   You tell her, “look woman, the fellas are racin on this day & at this time…and so am I!!  You got a prob with that?  I didn’t think so!!”  Alas, he’s known more for his rubbery spine as opposed to having a “lion’s heart”.  I’ll do my best to teach him though.  Sure wish I was going to live for another 80 yrs, cause that’s how much time I’d need to get his mind right!

Nevertheless, our incredibly “AverageStar” stumbled his way across the cube and pulled off a tourney win last night, which incidentally, thanks to his research,  unveiled that it’s tourney win number 44 for Team SLO this year, which is outstanding!!!   Actually there are more; we just can’t find them  : )  At any rate, N8 was in top form as he duked it out mono a mono with a host of other hoodlums…I mean, combatants.  Here are the final standings:

                                   1st place - SLO_N8

                                   2nd place - ZO_2wheel

                                   3rd place - ESX_RaDiOaCtIvE

Way to go, N8!!!  Also, hats off to that hosting machine, Valuablemoss, who was assisted by +DataGenesisI guess I’ll admit that I’m sorta impressed, but still, there’s lots of works to be done.   I spoke with your Mom, and she’s going to walk you across the street (don’t want our AverageStar getting mashed up by a car…or bus) to my house and we’ll begin another tutorial on how to be a real man.  Until then, congrats fella- very impressive tourney results!!!  Hehe--I just love abusing that guy. J

November 8, 2001 - I'm going to throw two names at ya:  Preach and GB.  I'm honestly quite impressed by these two guys, I truly am.  Yeah I know that's a major variation from a line I'd normally use when talking about "the brothers MG", but I've chosen to forego the insults and put-downs (for now) in order to say I am EXTREMELY fortunate to have the likes of these two guys on Team SLO, and I know everyone would agree to that!

They each have a new track, both released within days of one another, and I gotta tell ya, they just keep getting better!  First up is GB's, entitled "SLO Down".  I could sit here and tell ya all about it, but you can either visit KC's and check out my review (both tracks in fact) or hop in your SLO_RIDER (or a suitable sub) and drive that baby!  It's a ride and a half, believe me - extremely well suited for all-out racing, with a little bit of bumping along the way.  The layout is superb and extremely friendly to all levels of racers.

Preach has been hot lately, cranking out two tracks (and more are on the way!); the first was "Halloween 2001", which I loved!  His newest one is...well I won't say it's better, but it's different, stands on it's own in a class by itself, and boy did he do a spectacular job on it.   The name of the track is "Havoline MX", and I swear, every time I run that thing, before I kick it into gear I wanna say, "check the oil, and fill 'er up with gas, please".   Excellent MX track, and if you're anything remotely close to a track aficionado, you'll know that good MX tracks are hard to come by.  This will undoubtedly rank as one of the all-time great ones - mark my word.

Nowadays if their name is on a track it's like money in the bank; that's the kind of reputation they've established for themselves, which in turn adds yet one more facet to this oh so dynamic team.  Preach - GB...you guys have outdone yourselves this time around, hence SLO tips its hat to both of you for all that your are to this team.  Your conduct, attitude, sense of humor, dedication, and the manner in which you two have seamlessly fit into this team's character is nothing short of admirable.  Oh, and you also make dang good tracks, too!  Hehe--we're very proud to have you both as representatives of this team!!  How about a HUGE round of applause for these guys...and why not throw in a SLO standing-O while we're at it.  Heck, they've earned it!!

November 6, 2001 - Back with more newsworthy stuff!  The guy I'm going to highlight here doesn't really say a whole lot...or maybe it's just that I'm not around him enough.  Well, if in fact he is a tad on the quiet side, he'd better knock that crap off!  When I post on this page I depend on having a certain level of animosity and disdain for the subject at hand, and if you're "Johnny Cub Scout", it's makes it kinda hard for me to get...inspired.  I'll work on him though.  Start calling him on the job, and at home in the middle of the night...show up at his place unexpected, demanding to know when dinner will be ready...stuff like that.  He'll change - the others did!

Until that time comes though, he's doing it up on the cube!  A student at NCU, my man NoX became the teacher for a night as he dished out several rumbling lessons to the competition.  Hey, regardless of what I think of him, the guy knows how to toss trucks - no doubt about it!  On November 4, 2001, a spur tourney hosted by SFx_Doc_Raver and +RunoverU (thanks guys!) featured some hard-hitting truck mashers.  It was all for not, however, as Nox emerged the victor, carving yet another notch in SLO's legacy as one of the best teams ever!  Here's how it finished up:

                                   1st place - SLO_NoXcape

                                   2nd place - FIRE_EliMiNatOr

                                   3rd place - CHEV_HARD_ROCK

A hearty "gg" to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.  Oh and NoX...stop hiding behind these tournaments and come rumble someone who's time enough for ya.  Yeah, that's right - me.  And you'd best believe I got your "no escape" right here, Einstein.  Hehehe - great, great job bud.  How bout a SLO standing-O for NoX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

November 4, 2001 - Ding, ding, ding!!  It's that time again (hell, when isn't it?), and I'm here to tell yet another "fiction free" tale about three little pi...I mean, rumblers:  NoX, The nOct3rn4l One, and the one and only SuperStar.  Before I cite what they did specifically, indulge me if you will while I ramble for a bit.  Nope, no insults, put-downs, or commentary about their "shenanigans" as kids who were raised by gorillas (not many people know that).  What I will talk about (albeit briefly) is Team SLO.  It's no secret we're comprised of rumblers and racers, which is nothing unique where this game is concerned.  Where I think we differ from ANY other team out there is how we are...how we communicate, support each other, and work together.  It's a natural thing to take for granted something that seems to run with a natural chemistry, seemingly without effort...and I'm certainly guilty of that.  But when I stop and think about what we have, how far we've come...and what we're all about, it still amazes me to no end.  Trust me, others see it, and it's no surprise so many zoners are tripping over themselves trying to get an up close and personal view of SLO from the inside in a quest to join this superb team.

I assure you, this isn't some grandiose display of arrogance; I'm merely stating fact.  Narrowing my scope here, the three names I mentioned above are critical components of what SLO is all about...and hey, did I mention they happen to be dang good!!!  Two tourneys were held recently - one yesterday and the other 2 days ago, and these guys did what they do best: they won!  Let's take a look at details:

The first one featured nOct & N8, who tangled with a host of tough competitors on the road to the finals, to include XXX & SYR.  There's something to be said for individual performance, but make no mistake, effective teamwork is paramount in these 2 vs 2 outings, and these guys are masters at it.  Before I give you a rundown of the finalist, SLO would like to acknowledge the efforts of Valuablemoss and +Knight_SP9_CO for hosting.  Ok, here we go:

                             1st place - SLO_nOct3rn4l & SLO_N8

                             2nd place - VTR_NZWizz & VTR_MaDKiWi

                             3rd place - RRX_The Smurf & RRX_Tha_Tyger

NoX served notice that he too is a force to be reckoned with.   As I've said before, I have first-hand experience of what he's capable of.  He administered quite the brutal beating the first time we hooked up for a one on one, but I've learned a few more tricks...and I also had my baseball bat coated with titanium, which uh...well it helps.   So like, whenever you're ready to "dance," fella...you just look me up!  Hehe--that sounded pretty tough, huh?  Yeah well, I'm kinda good at that.  But enough of me!  In keeping with tradition, special thanks goes out to...Valuablemoss!!  You know, I'm going to have to make a pitch to our Board of Directors that we get this guy a SLO key ring or handkerchief...something; he's hosting his butt off!!  With that said, here's how it came out in the end:

                                 1st place - SLO_NoXcape

                                 2nd place - Z71_RiDDleR

                                 3rd place - ZDX_FearFX

How bout a HUGE round of applause for our SLOsters!!  Way to go, guys!!!  And I would certainly be remiss in my social graces if I failed to acknowledge the finalist; "gg" fellas!!

November 1, 2001 - He’s a former so-so rumbler, non-racing, expert crasher turned semi-pro racer/track maker extraordinaire who’s distinguished himself yet once again.  I call him, "Jr.", however in the Zone he's known as SLO_PreACheR_MG.  His latest effort is in the form of a short circuit track entitled “Halloween 2001”, and let me tell ya, you’ll want to put this one in your collection of “must haves” for the creativity that went into it alone!  Visual aesthetics aside, this is an extremely nice track for racing.  It’s got the speed, it demands a touch of finesse, and it’s got some really cool sound effects!!

You’ve hit a home run with this baby, Jr.!!  I’m telling you man, if you weren't such a pushy little, freaked out, half-witted, dirt-bag...I’d “consider” being nicer to you, but as it stands, I really only tolerate you because you make tracks.  I guess that’ll suffice until we find someone to replace you.  N8 and I figured a nice, well-mannered monkey would due just fine; wouldn’t be nearly as mouthy, and would probably be better at track making and racing, too!!

This one is a sure-fire winner, so if you’re looking for something fun to run with audio/visual appeal, then look no further!  PreachEXCELLENT job, bud; I’m definitely looking forward to your next project...so I can verbally bash you some more!!!

NOTEThis track was released Oct 27, 2001, however we decided to highlight it during the month of November to give it maximum "air time"J
