September 26, 2001 - I've heard it all just about; "SLO is more of a rumbling team now as opposed to a racing team" (uh excuse me, but we're both. hehe), "Nowadays to get on SLO all you need do is change your name" "If you raced like I do you all should be afraid of me", etc, etc, et-freakin-cetera!  No names on that last one (ONO), but it certainly serves as pretty good starting point, which is we fear no one.  We don't talk about being the best; we simply go out and win.  That's all that matters anyway, and it just happens to be what we do rather well.  And you can best believe, with Triple B back in action, JDAK (The Mauler) up to speed, and the talent we've recruited (as well as the ones we're currently recruiting) in recent weeks...well, it's only going to get better.

It was a spur tourney hosted by my main man +Dreamweaver.  The setting:  "Crazy 98", but for this one you needed your umbrella!  Since The SuperStar didn't give me a bunch of details...I'll make some up!!  Hehe--actually not.  Simply put, the outcome looked like this:

                                     1st place - SLO_N8

                                     2nd place - SLO_Jumper

                                     3rd place - ZOc_TwoStroke

Fact is our racing is very much alive; there just hasn't been any tournaments.  I was thinking just yesterday how I miss the times of days gone by of getting together with the fellas and preppin for a tourney.  I personally feel when tourneys came back they kind of over did it.  Not speaking for the entire team, but a couple of race tourneys a month would be just fine.  That leaves plenty of room for plain ole fun, ya know.  Hopefully this is the start of getting back to what once was.  Hopefully.  Finally - way to go, guys!!!  Excellent showing at that tourney!!!

September 24, 2001 - We're not just getting bigger, we're getting better!  Allow me to introduce SLO's newest hopefuls:  No1_Bro & MonsterDuck_WC (not sure if Bro is "really" no. 1 and I'm almost certain that Monster...person(?) isn't really a duck.  At least I hope he isn't.  If so, we'll have to discuss that one.  We never figured on having livestock in our ranks, but hey, duck or no, and even if you're only say...no. 7, it's all about attitude.  These two are loaded with it (attitude...the good kind), and it's that and that alone that earned them a shot at making this team.

 • Their trial period begins as of today, and on 15 October, 2001, we'll vote to see if they've earned rights to what is undoubtedly the most sought after ticket in the MTM 2 Gaming Zone; a custom fitted, genuine leather (actually it's frog skin made to "look" like leather), SLO jacket!!  Best of luck, fellas!

September 17, 2001 - I’m behind the power curve, so I’m going to bundle a few of these updates in a easy to carry, no-spill package.  Here we go:

That weirdo youngster who’s best friend is a 2ft tall robot (yep, we talking about Obe—how’d you guess?) has done it again.  By his own admission he hasn’t done a race track of late because he’s just too freakin lazy, however, he’s made up for it 3 times over, cranking out two incredibly fun rumbles;  Island Bash & Chlorinar.  Make it a point to check these out; you’ll be glad you did!

He’s just released what is arguably his best work to date, and if you haven’t noticed, it’s now lit up on our APL.  The name of the track is Sorrento Sands, and the author is none other than SLO_PreACheR_MG!  Before I talk about the track, I just want to add that Preach has an interesting way of choosing names for his tracks.  His last track, Midiland MX, was named after the speakers that sit atop his desk at home (that's sick, isn't it?).  I’m afraid to ask how he came up with the name for this one.  Hehe—it’s no surprise that he gets along real well with that Star Wars burnout; they’re both...very different than the rest of us.

o  Ok, back to business.  When I look at how far this guy has come, given where he started with respect to track making, well...it’s pretty darn amazing.  This track is simply...fun - make no mistake about it.  You'll find it has no high profile bells/whistles, no lag inducing clutter...well, to sum it up it’s just one heck of great rally.  Oh, and if you wear a cape (like I do) and drive a convertible...you’re in for a treat!!  Hehehe

Obe/Preach – all kidding aside (hehehe, damn this is hard)...great, great job.  I certainly don’t take what you guys do for granted, and I’m sure others appreciate the talent you guys have, as well as the effort you put forth to make such outstanding tracks for everyone to enjoy.  Way to go!!!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT HERE

September 16, 2001 -   It’s ironic in the sense that they’re probably two of the biggest mouth’s on the team.  No wait, they ARE the biggest mouth’s on the team!!!  One’s a racer, the other’s a rumbler...and I’m here to announce that they're back!!!!!  Yep, you heard me – two of our long-time, most (dis)respected, veteran roadsters are back on the scene.  After hearing the news via word of mouth, I was told many members of the SLO team actually broke down and cried (we thought we had got rid of em!!)

Ladies and gentlemen (and you too, Crusty) it is my sincere pleasure (choke, gag, cough) to announce the return of......

****SLO_STOMPER****

&

****SLO_3B****

NOTE:  I called 3B’s house not too long ago (he was at work...and I knew that.  hehehe) and spoke to his wife, Marilyn, who is a very nice lady, I might add; he must've tricked her into marrying him.  At any rate, she informed me that he hates his team name, and would prefer to be called, “Clem”, which is short for his first name, Clement (sounds like something out of a freakin cowboy movie...an old one).  As a matter of fact, his full name is Clement Teddy Wayne Sorrells, Jr.  Hahahahaha—yeah, I know what you’re thinking - somebody set him up real good.  Still, I say we oblige him and refer to 3B as Clem” from this day forward.  Hey, it's the least we can do for a teammate who's just come back to us, right "Clem"?   Hehehe

September 10, 2001 - Ding-Ding-Ding!!!!  All rise, please.  We have before us a brand new addition to the family, and I for one see this particular newcomer as a refreshing change of pace.  I kid you not, in the beginning stages 98% of the people who try out for this team pour on the cream and buttermilk like you wouldn't believe ("Oh yes, SLO_COPE...that's a superb idea; you're so smart"...."This is THE best team ever...and I mean in the entire universe!"..."Well if you think I should then I will.  After all, you know what's best, SLO_COPE").  It's disgusting.  But 6 months later I typically hear this: "You want me to do what?  Yeah well I'll get around to it when I get a chance - next year...maybe"..."Yeah well not only does the idea suck, but you suck, your truck sucks, N8, PA, SS, Christy, Jumper, Nanoo...all of them suck!!!"

Those comments were made by a couple of individuals whose names shall not be revealed (GutterboyMG, Preach, RAZ, & CLV).  What I'd like to focus on is that which is new, and also a marked improvement over the kinds of losers (real ones) we've been scraping out of rat-infested alleys of late.  Representing "the new and improved" is none other than SLO's most recent acquisition...

SLO_SMILEY

She's very intelligent, has an excellent sense of  humor, bubbly, and girlfriend has attitude with a capitol "A" - the good kind; not like those cretin's who's names I didn't reveal in the previous paragraph (GutterboyMG, Preach, RAZ, & CLV).   Smiley (formerly known as "noemi_officer"), on behalf of all of SLO, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the team.  Ordinarily I'd present you with a rather luxurious gift package, which would've included my great grandmother's shawl (can't find the bifocals to go with it, though), five slightly greasy hair curlers, a pair of STOMP's boxer underwear...washed (twice), and a $0.94 gift certificate to any Hardees in Israel (goodluck), however given the company you'll be keeping, I figured a can of mace and a baseball bat would suite you better.

n  Hehe--seriously though, a heartfelt welcome to the team, Smiley - we (and me!) are very, very glad to have you aboard!  : )

September 3, 2001 - I first met Preach when he asked me to check out his track...his very first track.  The name of it was "Rosario Canyon", and although it's somewhat crude by his standard of track making today, I was very much impressed with his work.  During the test run he fell behind...considerably behind, prompting him to make me aware of the fact that he was a rumbler, not a racer.

Well all that's changed now, and this youngster has proven time and again he's capable of "runnin' with da big dawgs" on pretty much any track out there (except "Extreme Farm Rd" - he's afraid of that one).  Hehe--that was a cheap shot, but so what; I like to make good use of my editorial license.  : )  At any rate, "Jr." (as I like to call him when he's getting on my nerves, which is fairly often) entered a race tourney hosted by +No_Valve, whose format for this one was stock tracks.  To be specific, the rounds went like this: 1st rd - Sidewinder Canyon  2nd rd - Scrapyard Run   3rd rd - The Heights  4th rd -  Crazy 98, and he wrapped it up Voodoo Island for the 5th.  The outcome?

                                 1st place - SLO_PreACheR_MG

                                 2nd place - LiquidPollution

                                 3rd place - ZR1ro_Vet

Make no mistake, you'll be seeing this name more often where tourneys are concerned.  The kid here has made it known he's not just another weirdo track maker who's run amok; he's a bonafide contender on the tracks...and this is only the beginning.  BIG congrats to you, Preach - way to go, bud!!!!!  : )

September 2, 2001 - The SuperStar was back in action on the cube in this spur tourney, and for this one the combatants were not required to have the same jackets.  His partner of choice?  None other than SYR_FOO, a seasoned veteran who stood side-by-side with our elite truck masher-upper (what - somebody gotta problem with that expression?) and slugged it out 'til the end.

Cutting to the chase, these two guys made quick work of the competition, impressing upon them what power was...and who controlled it!  How bout a HUGE round of applause N8 and  SYR_FOO! Great job you guys...outstanding!!!  Hey, didn't I tell ya the cape and boots would pay off? Huh?  Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about!!  Here are the particulars:

                            1st place - SLO_N8 & SYR_FOO

                            2nd place - XXX_WHO_MADE_U & GohanGZ

                            3rd place - XXX_TAKEuOUT & XXX_D_Lady (snicker,snicker)

September 1, 2001

I’ll begin this post with an excerpt from our team page…“we'll continue to nurture that one ingredient which serves as the nucleus of this outstanding team - our uncompromising friendship.  It’s what we’re all about…it’s always what we’ve been about, and I’d even go so far to say it’s the reason we’re still here today.

Change impacts everything and everyone, and we’ve certainly had our fair share of that; some good, some bad.  Where membership is concerned, however, change is always welcomed when we’re “adding on to our empire”.  This day marks a milestone of sorts in that we have four outstanding new SLOsters assuming their position on what is undoubtedly one of the most popular, well-respected teams in the MTM 2 Gaming Zone – period.  They are as follows:

Vickie_Lee_ is now SLO_nLuVnIt          Outlaw_Raz morphed into SLO_RAZ

                         CagedLordVamp transformed into SLO_CLV

&

NoXcape_sk found a phone booth and *poof*, he's now SLO_NoXcape

Welcome, and a heartfelt congratulations to all of you for successfully completing what is probably one of the more grueling, demanding, and dehumanizing trial formats…well, in the world!  When you begin the first day of a 3-week trial with 5,000 leg-lifts, alligator wrestling, and self-inflicted baseball bat beatings (new)…you know you’ve got your work cut out for ya!!  As per usual we had to make a few “mad dashes” to the emergency room to patch up a few of our brave-hearted SLO prospects, but hey - they knew what to expect going in.  It was all there on the contract, in black & white (very small print…at the bottom…on the back…in the corner...left side) .

Hehe—regardless, you all made it, and that’s all that matters.  How bout a standing “O” for our newest members!!!!  Congrats, you guys!!

September 1, 2001 - I hype a lot of stuff...and I realize that.  Some things, however, speak for themselves, and SLO_GutterboyMG's new track does just that!  He calls it, "Forsaken Lands", and let me tell you, this is one heck of a track!!  If you cater to speed, finesse, fun & excitement in a track, then this one is definitely for you!  Ok sure, it's a tad on the heavy side meg-wise, but so help me me, it's worth every byte!!!

As a matter of fact I'm so convinced you'll love this track I'm going to set a precedent here: if you are not COMPLETELY satisfied after sampling a few laps on this baby, simply let me know...and
GB will send you a check for $1,000.00 - no questions asked!!!  How's that for confidence, huh?

Hehe--superb effort with this one,
GB!!!  Definitely looking forward to your next project...sorta.  You're kind of a pain to work with...like your little brat of a brother (Preach)!!!!
