LOL well the site is
back up again, however, our server host contends that there are
still problems that have to be addressed. In the near
future we'll be down again in order to transfer over to a new,
supposedly more robust server. Once again we'll lose our
track links for a day or two, however, the site will remain
available on our backup server for the "casual
onlooker" @ www.teamslo.com.
Our site is still
down. What you are seeing now is a temporary
backup. The only pages with functional links are the
Utility page and the Track Lists
instruction page. The APL consolidated zip file is
inoperative, so for those who want it, you can either wait a day
or two until we're back in business, or you can download the
tracks individually. However, if all goes according to
plan, we should be fully restored and
operational within the next few days.
NOTE: If you're looking
for tracks, by all means check out Malibu's
and MTMG. If
they don't have it...you don't need it lol.

First and foremost, on behalf
of Team SLO, it gives me great pleasure to introduce our
newest member:
**** SLO_Scrooch_
****
Let me begin by saying that we
owe
this guy a HUGE apology - RAZ in
particular. You see, we thought he was a dog, and
well, I even kinda hammered him on a post I made on this
month's N&U Archive page. But RAZ
really got carried away. Have a look:
NOTE:
"Les" is SLO_HotShoe
Terrible, I know...but we're
having a meeting about him (RAZ)
tonight. At any rate, after we got scrooch's
picture, we
realized we had made a gross error. I mean, who knew lol?
We don't like to hire animals anyway (even though we
have a Duck and a snake
that can't spell - VYPER), but now it seems we're
embarking on new territory; preschoolers. Yep, you heard
me. Here's a recent picture of ole scroochy, and there's another on our profile page. He has a
heck of a vocabulary for a 5-yr old, and let me tell ya, the
little brat can he race!
We met with our legal counsel and had our Bylaws amended to
accommodate having "little people" on the team. Here's a
look at the addendum that was added specifically for scrooch
to
ensure his mental and physical development wasn't stifled by
being on a professional race-rumble team:
Monday thru Friday:
Breakfast: Prune
Juice & Sauerkraut Surprise
1. School:
-SLO_BRO: Computer
Disassembly/Destruction
-SLO_nOct3rn4l: Spelling

3. Racing Instruction:

Own Race Lines
-SLO_HotShoe: Sumo

-SLO_JDAK: Personal

-SLO_Jumper:

Saturday & Sunday: Free
time, and a two-hour trip to "Happy Acres" to visit SLO_PreaCheR,
SLO_Demigod, SLO_GT3K
& SLO_Destroyer.
LOL again...welcome to the team, Scrooch!!!
We're darn glad to have ya, bud.
It's party time, so break out the Kool-Aid, Power Rangers and
Hot Wheels!
The first is one of the founders
of our team, and arguably the best there ever was to play this
game (stole the last part of that line from a movie lol).
The other is a long-time veteran of the game (5+ years), but
still relatively new to the world of pro racing, but I'm here to
tell ya, the guy can flat out fly!
N8
(invited to the tourney by a friend) & Demigod
lit up yesterdays tourney by placing 1st & 2nd
respectively on Winterkill's*,
"Wake
Up!". Could this be the beginning of
SLO's "one-two punch"? The racing version of
SLO's "dynamic duo"???? Nah, they're not that
good really. Heck, PaPa
said, "I could mop up the track with both of those
young punks...if I had time, I mean". I
understand, too. You see, PaPa
just made it to the semi's of a tourney hosted by the World
Pro Knitters Association (tough!), and feels he's got a good
shot at the finals (says he's going to knit a split-level
house). Plus, he plays on the neighborhood "Chutes
& Ladder" team, so that takes up a lot of his time as
well (beating 6- & 7-yr olds out of their lunch money, no
doubt).
Nevertheless, the members of
this team certainly feel N8
&
Demi deserve a hearty SLO
standing "O" for their efforts out there
yesterday. Way to go, guys!!! Also, hats to my man SCAT,
who was also in attendance.
SPECIAL
NOTE:
+_ALL2much gets two
thumbs
up for his outstanding support & dedication in the
form of hosting all these great tourneys. He's definitely
played a key role in the resurgence of MTM 2 racing, and it's
great to see. Keep up the good work, partner!
*Corrected
author's name; changed from Malibu to Winterkill.
Just so everyone knows, Malibu350 was "in the
vicinity" when Wint made the track...so there, N8!

Track
Lists Instruction Page posted
byCOPE@ April 18, 2003
Since there's been a marked
interest in racing these days (in particular, the track lists
put together by SLO), we figured a handy dandy instruction page
was in order...so we hosted one up and placed it at the very
bottom of our APL
section.
Our hope is that it alleviates
some of the confusion associated with our racing format.
Quite a few people have at least one of our lists as it is,
however, it appears that more and more racers are opting to get
em all, and we think it's great! Additionally, we
appreciated the interest, and absolutely love having so many
people to race with!
Needless to say we've seen
better times with respect to our site uptime rate over the past
3-yrs...however (comma) all is well again, and we're back in
action. I do have a few things to point out just so
everyone's aware:
• The individual
rumble tracks have been removed from the server to save space.
I'll modify the site page to reflect this
change no later than 16 April.
• The SLO RIDER
consolidated zips will be merged into one zip. No earth
shattering revelation here; it just makes better sense, that's
all.
•
Finally, if you see something out of wack, please let me
know. I'm sure there are bound to be a few snags still,
but as I'll be sure to repair any and all defects within 5
minutes of notification. That's not a guarantee, mind
you...but it sounds impressive lol.

Great New Tracks! posted
byCOPE@ April 5, 2003
Is racing on a roll, or
what? The authors of these tracks are none other than Bert& Scuba for "Muskoka
Road", Clem for "Black
Gold", & Cousin Jethro for "Black
Gold Pro". Don't recognize the names of the
track makers? Newcomers to the field, perhaps?
Hardly. Bert & Scuba are "Phineus" &
"Alpine" and Clem and Cousin Jethro are
"Phineus" and "Phineus" lol. I'll tell
you right now, I'm not going to speculate on the name thing,
reasons why, and the like. Although I have a few semesters
of psychology under my belt, I get the distinct feeling these
guys are waaay out of my league lol.
The tracks, on the other hand,
are first-rate, prime time, A-1, pieces or work. Despite
what you may think of their mental stability, the names "Phineus"
"Alpine" say it all! Oh, and if you want
a sneak peek at what they look like (the tracks, not the authors
lol), MTM2.COM or Malibu's
Track Shots affords you that and much, much
more.
But DO
checkout those tracks - they are AWESOME!
Introducing
SLO_Demigod & SLO_PaPa byCOPE@ April 1, 03
To say that SLO
struck gold with the aforementioned new members would
undoubtedly be the understatement of the year. Then again,
maybe it just seems like we got a great deal; after all, it's
been almost a year since we've brought in new members lol.
Still, it matters not, for we'll mold & shape these
miserable losers into shape in short order. Oh
hey, they're not all that bad now, but one is delusional
(with a violent twist), and the other has obviously watched too many episodes of
"The Dukes of Hazard" lol.
For now all that matters is
they're SLO, baby, and as a show of our immense gratitude, we've
prepared a special gift package for them.
Unfortunately due to budget cuts they have to share it, but
given what they're about to receive I'm sure there will be no
complaints. Here we go: One stick of Juicy Fruit gum
(pre-chewed), one deluxe can of industrial strength "Nag 'B Gone" (trust
me, this stuff works!), a box of 11 Crayola Crayons (should be
16, but we broke 5 wresting them away from some 5-yr
old...little brat), one of Fila's rabbits (taste like chicken),
& last but not least, a $2.15 gift certificate good at any
Taco Bell in Baghdad. NOTE: Gift certificate comes
with a free F-14 Tomcat...and you'll need it lol.
Allow me to introduce a young
pup (just under 3 in canine years) by the name of "scrooch_dog".
First of all, I'm not crazy about bringing animals onto the
team, but SLO_RAZ reminded me that we already have a
DUCK & a snake that can't spell (Vyper), so I guess a dog wouldn't be too extreme after all
lol. At any rate, scrooch definitely has an interesting
daily routine that caught "SLO's attention. Check this out:
Morning:
walk with master, eat,
chase parked cars, bark at neighbor, race with SLO.
Afternoon: Belly rub, eat, race with SLO, chase moving cars,
chase tail (his own), digs up master's flower bed.
Evening:
Bites neighbor & his ugly cat, practices APL
offline, eats (biscuit treat), gets a belly rub, & then goes
to sleep thinking, "Gee, I wanna be just like COPE
when I grow up" lol.
I don't know about everyone
else, but
I like this ki...pup lol. Welcome to the Team SLO
trial period, scrooch.
Meet everyone you can & just enjoy the ride, bud. On April
22 we'll cast a vote & see what happens.
Best of luck to ya!
