Looks Like Another SLO Day!! posted
byCOPEMay 26, 2003
Few things compare
to the excitement of bringing in a new member. With the exception
of sitting up straight, looking around, adjusting the position
in your chair, and breathing, celebrating a new SLO is tops in
my book.
On this day we welcome a guy
who literally redefines pro racing. He gives new meaning
to the phrase "turn and burn", and is undeniably one
of the most impressive racers on the scene today. The
beauty of it is on SLO an individual's skills are the least of
our concerns, and with Shaggy
we're getting a multi-faceted package. For instance, he's
a great PR
(public relations) guy who's honest
and never ever pushy or demanding.
He's in tip-top shape and in superb
health. He's also a consummate team player who
believes in working with people vs barking
out orders. No sir, they just don't come any
better than ole Shaggy, and
based on his many personal attributes and charisma, we decided
to to make him one of us! On behalf of Team SLO, allow me
to present our newest superstar...

As with every new recruit, Shaggy
will receive a personalized gift package that over the years has
proven to do absolutely nothing for an individual's morale and
spirit. LOL but who cares - it's a tradition, and as such
he'll get his gift package...and he'll like it! So let's
see what he got: An autographed copy of the "Scooby
Doo" series on dvd (in Japanese with Russian subtitles), A
full 4 min supply of "Fetch Em, Boy" dog biscuits
(pre-chewed compliments of Scrooch), 3 free obedience lessons at
a local kennel (course consists of memorizing the following:
"You're freakin awesome, SLO_COPE!", "Of course -
you're always right, SLO_COPE", and "Shall I gas up
the COPE Mobile for you, oh exalted one so you can kick
SLO_Jumpers teeth in...again?") and finally, 50% off the
cost of the surgery he's been scheduled for next week (neuter).
Now I ask you, who in their right mind wouldn't want a
supercharged package like that?
LOL welcome aboard, Shaggy.
Seriously man...we're darn glad to have you with us, bud.
By all means make yourself at home, but most of all the ride.
It's a great one!
Potential
New SLO on Deck!!! posted
byCOPEMay 6, 2003
Since our arrival in
the Zone on March 11, 2000, SLO's method of recruiting members
has basically remained the same. "Attitude"
was our watchword, as well as our focal point when it came to
sizing up a potential recruit. Skill level, however, never
was...and never will be part of that criteria. With time
and experience, like everything else, we broadened our horizons
in every way imaginable, to include how we recruit new members.
Enter "Shaggy21313".
Although I was somewhat baffled by the manner in which he greeted
me, after chatting with the youngster I was extremely impressed,
as was SLO_RAZ, who
incidentally is chiefly responsible for affording him a shot at
earning a nice, tailor-made SLO jacket. RAZ
did express some concern about his mathematical aptitude,
however. Supposedly, Shaggy tried to get the name "Shaggy12345", but couldn't
quite put the numbers together. He also stated that the
2-year old kid next door was no help, and that he was sorry he
asked the little brat for assistance. Ultimately
"21313" was the best he could do, so rather than
endure more frustration (and the "You're so dumb"
taunts from the 2-yr old brat), he stuck with the digits he
has. Needless to say it's a good thing we eliminated that
"must be able to successfully count 8 two out of three
times" rule, or Mr. 21313 wouldn't be here lol.
Congrats on your trial period,
Shaggy...and welcome! Relax, meet a few more SLOsters, and
enjoy the ride, bud. Don't sweat the name thing either; Razzy
will work with you over the next three weeks. If you
haven't gotten it by May 27th,
we'll hook you up with our reading, writing, and arithmetic
specialists: SLOs 3B, N8,
and nOct3rn4l. Good
freakin luck (you're gonna
need it) lol.
We're back up and
running, and all systems are go...however, they don't go
very fast lol. This "new" server is anything but
speedy, so if you're in a hurry, all I can tell ya is start your
downloads early. Nevertheless, everything's working.
I have a few updates to make to
the Miscellaneous Tracks
page, as well as one more significant update to post here
(tonight...late tonight) before it's all said & done, and
I'll be ready to race again (finally)! Sorry for the
inconvenience of our off-on again service, but this time we
should be around for a while.

Status Update--New Server posted
byCOPEMay 5, 2003
As promised the time
has come to relocate to our new server. In the interim
we're holding steady on our backup life support system.
As a reminder, the only Track Lists
and Utility page links works. Oh, and the SLO Rider truck
pictures are viewable as well. That's about
it. We'll be back up at 100% by tomorrow night.
