The N&F Racing League posted by COPE Sept 25, 2003

+Unfried Frog & Team NIR have put together a new league for racers, and from what I can tell it should be a winner.  Tourneys will be held every Friday night; sign ups start at 8:00 p.m. est with the tourney getting underway promptly at 8:30 p.m. est.  The rest of the details can be found here.  It's short notice, but what the heck - if you can support it, please do.  Having another tourney around is definitely "a good thing" as I see it.  Hats off to +UF & Team NIR for their efforts!

The track for this week's tourney is ROX_Attitude's newest release, "R.U.O.K.?", so be sure to pick it up.  I'll also add that it's a very good track that'll undoubtedly prove to be fairly popular in the zone, and we'll certainly have to add this one to one of our lists!  That's it for now, so for those who can support this thing get out and do so, and I'll see you there...I hope - gotta check with The Warden, first lol.

New Tracks On the Horizon  posted by COPE Sept 24, 2003

Just a quick post to let everyone know that there are three very nice tracks due to be released in the near future - ones that I plan on adding to one of our lists.  The track authors are Winterkill, ROX_AttitudeGZ (names that speak for themselves) and a guy by the name of Cr@$hC@rt, who is pretty darn talented in his own right.  I'll let everyone know when they're out, so stay tuned!

It's RnR Season!  posted by COPE Sept 17, 2003

Well, it's looking like RnR is on the move again.  For whatever reason it seems to go out of style (so to speak), and then someone says, "hey, anyone interested in a little RnR?, and the next thing you know it's back full force.  Here on SLO we've always loved RnR, thus we promote it every chance we get.  By in large any game that involves team play is generally big, big fun, and with that in mind, if you've never tried RnR, well...you're missing out on some incredibly fun times.

We'll be conducting semi-organized (meaning it will be host-less) RnR sessions periodically, so by all means bookmark this page, and/or check out our forum for more details.  Most of all, spread the word and then show up to give it a go.  There's no guarantee you'll like it, but from our experience, it's rare that we see someone turn their nose up at it - it's just waaaaaaay too much fun!  Heck, one guy on the team, who shall remain nameless (Shaggy), started practicing his RnR skills today when we (Scrooch, ALL2much, Shaggy, and myself) were racing.  That fool was taking us out left and right, and on "Muskoka Road", he took out all three of us!  Truthfully I don't think he even needs a partner; he does damn good all by himself lol.

At any rate, if you're looking for a real good time, definitely give this format a try.  It could very well turn out to be your new passion where this game is concerned.

Tourney News!  posted by COPE Sept 21, 2003

Often times I'm asked what makes SLO tick, i.e. what standards do we use to "size people up" and ultimately recruit new members with respect to our institutional values and morals.  The answer is pretty simple really: we canvas the Zone every day til we spot the absolute weirdest, backwards-thinking, social degenerate out there and ask if they would like a shot at making the team because [quote] they just seem to fit [unquote] into our nifty little organizational scheme.  What does all that have to do with tourney news?  Not a damn thing, however, since we're talkin social degenerates, weirdos, and the like, I'd like to offer up two guys who epitomize those particular traits:  RAZ & Shaggy lol.

Let's start with highlighting a few of their "finer" qualities - characteristics that set them apart from the normal people, and subsequently paving the way for their membership here on SLO lol:  Here's Raz:

And now Shaggy:

If that's not your classic social degenerate commentary, then I don't know what is lol.  Oh well, the good part is at least they're extremely adept at one thing, an that's racing, and boy oh boy can they race!!!

At yesterday's tourney the featured track was HotShoe's "The Grade", and make no mistake, that baby is tailor-made for great racing, but also some pretty spectacular crashing as well.  I think it's safe to say we all sampled the side of a mountain or hill - some of us several times over (right Razzy lol) before it was all said and done.  In the final round, Razzy and I chased that dang Shaggy for more than 13 minutes (4 laps) running 3:20/3:21 on average, and he was rock-solid; he didn't crash once.  Razzy thinks it was the fluffy slippers he was sporting, but I think it was lavender silk scarf & matching lipstick he was wearing.  I think it made him feel wholesome.  He told me after was all over word has it that SCAT and Muddd gave him a friendly wink and said he looked nice for the tourney lol (gag/choke/hurl).  At any rate, it was one heck of a good time thanks to +ALL2much once again!

GG's to all who attended, and don't take this as gospel, but word has it there could be an RnR tourney headed our way in the near term, so stay tuned!  Wrapping it all up, how about a SLO standing-o for SLO_Shaggy (or Shaggalina lol) on capturing yet another first place finish, and in extremely impressive fashion, too!  Four laps on "The Grade" is...well it ain't for sissys lol.  Without further ado, here are the official particulars:

                         1st - SLO_Shaggy

                         2nd - SLO_COPE

                         3rd - SLO_RAZ

              4th - +ALL2much & OLD_LoL_Evil

Fashionably Late Tourney News  posted by COPE Sept 16, 2003

This past weekend marked the passing of what I consider to be an extremely impressive feat; a one-time pure rumbler turned racer capturing his first tourney win.  Demigod was the first one to pull off such a stunt earlier this year on OLD_FlatWheel's "Flat's Formula Race".  This time around it was +ALL2much doing it up on Skyman's "Snowbound", and although we can't verify it, it could be the first time a tourney host has won the tourney he/she was hosting!  We'll steer clear of that subject for now, however...at least until the findings of the investigation initiated by N8 & HotShoe have been made a matter of public record. Speaking of Shoe, here's what he had to say in an interview immediately following the final round:  "Hey you scum-suckin $^%&! You ever try that ^*#@+! crap again, and I'll be sure to string you up by your #^#@^&#@ (reference to a part of the male anatomy), and that's a #$%^!*+ promise, you #%#$@%@^...and don't you #$#@#!&* forget it!!!!  Ah yes, always the gracious loser, that Shoe, huh?  Still, it doesn't negate the fact that it was a heck of a tourney with spectacular crashes and dramatic finishes...and in some cases both occurred simultaneously!

You're now a real racer, A2M - welcome to the club, bud, and we definitely look forward to more great races in the future!  Here are the final results:

                          1st - +ALL2much

                          2nd - SLO_N8

                          3rd - SLO_HotShoe

"GG's" to all who attended!  We'll get together this weekend and do it all over again!

Make Way 4 the Shaggy Express! posted by COPE Sept 7, 2003

The featured track for yesterday's tourney was "Wicked Garden" by the former SRT_World, and the turnout was fantastic.  The man of the hour, however was Shaggy, whose virtuoso performance earned him the number 1 spot at the end of the day.  I would gladly expound on this guy's merits as team player, but it seems he and at least one other member of SLO don't necessarily...mesh lol.  You guys know how I hate naming names, but hey - it's gotta be done.  With that said, here are a few "choice" words from Demi on Shaggy:

And here's Shaggy's opinion (not that anyone cares) of one of his bud, Demi:

It's too bad they're both males because personally I think they'd make the cutest couple.  I'll tell ya though - the thought of Demi in a dress doesn't set well with my stomach...at all lol.  Regardless, we'll keep you posted on their "love affair".

As for the tourney, here are the official results:

                  1st - SLO_Shaggy

                  2nd - SLO_COPE

                  3rd - OLD_mumhra

                  4th - OLD_LoL_Evil & _ALL2much

Much congrats to mum for having a dang good tourney, and the same holds true for his friend (and ours), Evil!  Did we have fun out there or what???

Needless to say when I started this game, I had already made plans for how I wanted my legacy to unfold.  I envisioned walking down the street (in any city lol), with people stopping and looking as I went by, uttering the words:  "Whoa! There goes COPE...the best damn SLO there ever was." Thanks to N8, RAZ, and now this Shaggy guy, people will never utter those faithful words.  LOL kidding of course, but it's fun to dream, isn't it?  In all seriousness, the fact is it's not about individual achievement.  I mean, that's a good thing - don't get me wrong, but coming together as a team, as a single functioning unit, is something to experience.  Here on SLO we've been experiencing it for going on 4 years now, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Finally, thanks to +ALL2much for hosting another fantastic tourney, and congrats on the 4th place finish, fella!  Also, "GGs" to the rest of field.
