Minor Fixes & Updates posted
byCOPE Dec
29, 2003
I
was made aware that the .ini
file for APL 01 was
corrupt. Also, it was discovered that the Fixmore.pod
wasn't included in the APL 01
zip. Both problems have been remedied.
Finally,
I added a note on our Track Lists
page in an effort to hopefully alleviate some misunderstanding
about two track lists in particular: Adoob
& Vintage.
Simply put, those two zips only contain the tracks that DONOTreside in other track lists, hence you must
have the other lists installed to have a "complete
set". The reason those two lists were setup that way
was to save space by minimizing duplication. Hope that
clarifies things a bit more and precludes further
misunderstanding.

"On The Fly" Added to APL 01 posted
byCOPE Dec
23, 2003
As
promised, we've added Demi's
new track, "On The Fly"
to the APL 01 list, which incidentally
features some VERY impressive tracks. If you have this
list, all you need is the track and the new ini,
and you're all set. If you don't have this list (or any of
our others), you might want to check out our tutorial,
which gives you step-by-step instructions on how to install
them. The initial investment with respect to the time it
takes to set it all up is a little steep, but I assure you, you
won't regret it. Check it out!
We've
recently updated ourUtility page
with a variety of useful odds & ends, to include anti-virus
software, Enzip (slick utility, a step up from Winzip),
One-click (with installation instructions), Team Speak, and
more. So if you or anyone you know are in need of a few
nifty programs, help yourself; it's why they're there.
You
learn something new every day I suppose. Here's a handy
little link
that legwon recently updated
at MTMG.
Whether your new to the game or not, I guarantee you'll pickup a
few tidbits of information you didn't know. Mostly though
it's a great link to have handy in case you run across a
newcomer or three. Nice work, leg!
His first track,
"Fine Line",
was quite an accomplishment to say the least. With that
kind of success the first time out, the pressure was on (albeit
self-imposed maybe) to follow up with something just as good or even
better. Needless to say Demi's
done that, and there's no doubt in my mind this track, entitled
"On The Fly",
will far exceed "Fine Line's"
popularity. The slick layout, coupled with its speed, accommodating width for passing/maneuvering, and
subtle but more than adequate scenery will surely have you doing
lap after lap after adrenaline pumping lap.
In the readme.txt Demi
states that it took approximately eight months to complete
"On The Fly".
It was certainly worth the wait, but if you're curious about why it
took so long to finalize this project, have a look at his track
making regimen:
Apr
28: Opens Traxx, lays 3/4 of a course, then discovers
he's late for the weekly neighborhood checkers & poetry
extravaganza-closes Traxx.
May
6th: Opens Traxx, completes the course, inserts a few
tree models, 1/2 a bridge, and one of Replica
Fan's $2.50 cars, calls it a day.
Jul
9: Opens Traxx, then
girlfriend decides his time would be better spent engaging in
"quality time" activities...like shopping, planting
flowers, and watching soap operas.
July
10: Announces that he's taking a break from making
tracks. Claims he's exhausted from the all the work.
Dec
13: Fires up Traxx, begins work on his track, gets
frustrated after 4 minutes, then sends me this
& this.
Get the
idea? Yeah, it's sad, but we never realized he was a
nutcase when we signed him on lol. Still, despite
his 2,361 quirks and idiosyncrasies, he's a heck of track maker,
and once you give this track a go you'll undoubtedly know that COPEY
speaks the truth (nothing but).
Great job, Demi
- outstanding work, partner. We'll definitely be adding
this one to the APL, so consider that forewarning (for all you
racers, I mean).

Track Page Changes at MTMG posted
byCOPEDec 14, 03
A few days ago I made reference to
impending changes at MTMG. Well,
it's a done deal. If you would please, take a look at the track page.
Notice the substantial increase in sort options, as well as the
new sort feature (Bookmarks) for track lists. Phin's
done a heck of a job putting it together, and I'm sure it'll
prove to be an extremely handy tool for those in search of a
specific track or track lists.
Personally, I
think the guy (Phin) is
trying to one-up us with all the bells and whistles he's thrown
in on that track page. Well, to show everyone that SLO WILLNOT be outdone, as of Jan 1 (my birthday...and no
presents, please; send money lol), we'll serve up a
complimentary breakfast/lunch/dinner (whichever applies) to each
person who downloads one of our track lists. If you
download three or more lists, we'll throw in a booklet of coupons
worth $25.00 good at any McDonalds in Baghdad. Let's see MTMG
beat that!
I highly recommend
checking out that page. It's pretty slick, and I'm sure
most if not all of you out there will agree!
There's
a rather significant update in the works at MTMG
(more on that later) which sparked the idea of changing the
names of our APL lists. The "02"
& "09"
designators were indicative of the month each list was released
(February & September). I'm sure there are hordes of
racers who lost sleep wondering about that, so now ya know lol.
At any rate, APL_02 has been renamed to APL_01
and APL_09 is now APL_02.
Pretty fancy, huh? Nothing else has changed; the tracks
are still intact, you'll still download them from the same
pages, etc. This concludes your every day, friendly public
service announcement.
NOTE: If you're using MTM
Starter or some other means to breakout your track
lists, you might want to consider renaming the APL
folders accordingly.
There's
been a recent change to our Jump-Cope
list. A few new tracks were added (Rachel's
Park-TMX
Lights Edition-Wake
Up!- World
Grand Prix 1) and one track was deleted (Twisted
Moto Cross due to unacceptable checkpoint
flaws). For those of you who already have this list, all
you need do is download the aforementioned tracks, extract them to your MTM 2 folder, then re-download the
new .ini
file, and your done. Of course, if you'd rather just
re-download the entire
zip that's ok too; the choice is yours.
If
you don't know the name Knarf
by now...well, then I guess you just don't know it lol.
But I'm going to change that. You see, Franky
(that's what we call him around the clubhouse) authored a few
nifty programs specifically designed with the track
list enthusiast in mind, and he recently made a few
updates to what has to be his most popular product - the MTM
Starter. All the details can be found here,
however if you'd rather skip all the muckety-muck and go right
to the source,
that's understandable, too.
He'll
never be lauded for stunning, eye-catching works of art that
stop you in your tracks (interesting little pun there). I
get the impression mike204
doesn't just throw a few segments together in Traxx and hope
that an idea pops into his head. It seems to me his work
tends revolve around some sort of a concept, and abstract one,
but a concept nonetheless. Whatever it is I can't say for
sure, but what I do know is his latest release, 204WHIPPET,
is pretty dang intense. You "might" not
care for it in the beginning, but keep working at it. As
the pieces start to fall in place and you begin to figure out
the approach you have to take to successfully traverse this
track, you'll be able to imagine the fun to be had by a little
4-6 player gathering on this baby.
Give
it a go, and if I'm around, definitely give me a buzz; I'd love
to join in! Nice work once again, mike!!

Bar Changes posted
byCOPE Dec
2, 2003
A
few days ago Scrooch
approached me with some suggestions to make our site
(specifically our Help & Track
Lists pages) a little easier to digest in terms of
getting around, as well as ensuring that those who are
unfamiliar with the game get all the useful info they need
in
order to get started. Well, after several minutes of
discussion we concluded that our current navbar setup was way
overdue for an update, which we're in the process of
doing. We also edited a couple of pages to get rid of some
redundancy and overlap. Again, we're not quite done with
all of the modifying & adjusting, but we're getting
there. As always, if you notice anything out of
wack, please bring it to our attention so we can get it
fixed.
Special
thanks goes out to Scrooch.
Talkin to the guy for more than 3 consecutive minutes in a
sitting is more frustration than I typically like to endure (he goes off
on tangents about toys, daycare centers and the latest
technology in strollers), but hey, in this instance it paid off
lol. Thanks for the input, Scroochy!!
